Oh *PHEW* your only the cousin of Legolas. I totally want to kiss him (or at least Orlando ;) )
Vëstaria
*is analysing a set of arrows that have had their fletchings changed when she senses a presence behind her*
"Vëstaria." The low voice is laced in exasperation. *she refuses to turn around and continues to inspect the arrow in her hand*
*a hand comes down lightly on her shoulder* "I have no doubts that your defiant attitude does you no credit in the least. Is it so impossible to do what is commanded of you?"
*she rolls her eyes* "Is it so impossible that having been raised by one with skill and prowess when it comes to battle and defence, that I would wish to be rid of such commands that inhibit my freedom?" she responds.
*the hand on her shoulder forces her around to face the intruder on her morning's peace.* Tall, fair and undeniably handsome, Elion - Vëstaria's life-long friend and self-proclaimed protector - strikes an impressive figure. Even when his brow is furrowed and his expression disapproving.

It really is fabulous :D
Nienna*Nienna and her best friend Meriadoc the hobbit are wandering around the Shire when a handsome Elf rides up to them*
"I am searching for Elion. Have you seen him" *his green eyes pierce Nienna and she looks away, blushing*
"Last I heard, Sir, he was in Rivendell but he may have moved on since then" *Meriadoc watches the Elf curiously, glancing between him and Nienna*
"My name is Bein, kind Hobbit" *he replies*
"Beautiful" *Nienna whispers softly*
*Bein gazes at her, unsure of what to say* "Excuse me?"
"Your name, it means Beautiful" *blushing, she turns and heads away, leaving Meriadoc and Bein behind*

Vëstaria
"Vëstaria, I insist you forget your...foolishness, and resume your studies." Elion's piercing emerald eyes have no effect whatsoever on the determined Vëstaria, who raises an eyebrow at his tone.
"This is not the mortal realm, Elion, and I fear you take too many liberties when you address me with such an inferior manner. Do not belittle me because of my sex! Magic has no appeal to me - I wish to fight and fight I shall, no matter your fine ideals."
*Elion breathes out, looking as if he is contemplating pursuing the subject* "Vëstaria..."
*she purses her lips*
*he laughs, and the sound is like bells ringing on a cool spring morn* "Do not fret, mellon. I will not force my hand this time." *his tone hints that this will not the final talk on the matter*
"Be prepared to lose!" she counters, smiling wickedly.

Update:
- Vëstaria (Elf - distant cousin of Legolas. In Rivendell and at the moment is in the practise fields conversing with Elion)
- Nienna (Vala (Ainur) the distant descendant of Queen Nessa. In the Shire)

"Miss Nienna, I do apologise if I made you upset, it was not my intention!" *Bein is walking along beside her, gazing away*"Do not fret Sir Bein, I am not upset. Will you continue to travel on to Rivendell now?" *Nienna tries not to stare at the handsome elf, but occasionally peeks*
"I do. I have business to attend to with Elion" *He seems to ponder for a moment, before continuing to speak* "Would you and Meriadoc like to join me? I would love some company along the way"
*At that moment, Meriadoc appears with Bein's horse*
"We would be delighted, Sir Bein! Let us pack and depart immediately!"
Vëstaria
*Elion smiles* "I would not place such bets so hastily, mellon . You may train in secrecy through the early hours of the morning, but I have far more training in these matters than you!"
Vëstaria, instead of laughing as he had intended, frowns. "Than teach me, so I may be a worthy opponent - for you, or for any man!"
*Elion tries to smile* "You already are; your tongue is you fiercest weapon - it can flay a man 'till he begs for mercy!"
*Vëstaria rolls her eyes* "Elion, thou art much addled. I do not speak of one's speech, rather the way one uses the weapon in one's hand. Teach me, do!"
*his expression hardens* "You know it is forbidden. For you. If your sire were to find out..."
Vëstaria tosses her mane of black curls and whirls to face the collection of weaponry again, furious and insulted. "If Bein were here ," she muttered, "he would dare to teach me ..."
*there is a noise behind her as Elion sucks in his breath in surprise.* "Vëstaria, you test my tolerance!"
*she blinks away tears...and tears were a rare occurrence when it came to this particular elvish maiden* "I care not! You interrupt my personal training, insult me, belittle me and then rise to anger when you hear things you wish not to!! I cannot believe that it is you whom I speak to, for you are not yourself."
"Bein is not here," hisses Elion, turning her roughly to face him. "He abandoned us."
"He left to protect us!" she raged. "And you dishonour his sacrifice with your tone and choice of words! Let me be!"
*yanks her arm out of his grip, ignoring his plea for her to stay and calm down, and stalks away from the practice grounds*

Vëstaria
Tears dripping unheeded down her beautiful face, she walks briskly along the outskirts of the grounds. Coming across the rocky outcrop shaped like what Elion once jokingly referred to as 'an Orc', she climbs over it with an agility that could only be an elf's and makes her way over to the shining pool of water. The lake that lies hidden behind a curtain of leaves from the weeping willows that surround it.
*sits down by the lake and stares at it, remembering better times* "I promised you, Bein," she whispers. "I made a promise I would not be so defenceless the next time we met. For if I had not been so frail, and so defenceless, you would not have left. You would not have feared for our safety. What is magic? It is nothing but chance, tricks, an illusion. Magic will not avenge the dead, cure the land and protect those we hold most dear. Nor can it bring you back."

Nienna*Nienna and Meriadoc are riding slightly behind Bein. Nienna has been quiet, but now chooses to speak to Meriadoc*
"Why would you agree to this journey Meriadoc? Can't you see this Elf makes me nervous?" *She whispers to him*
"Nienna, you think I can not see, but I know you better than most! Him making you nervous is a good thing!" *Meriadoc smirks at her*
"You think you are clever, but you forget who we are going to find - Elion!" *she shakes her head softly and refuses to look at Meriadoc*
*Meriadoc ponders this for awhile* "Do you think Bein knows about what happened with Elion?"
*She sharply whips her head toward him* "It seems to close to be coincidence, but I am not sure. Let us keep it secret for now and wait until we get to Riverdell"
*They continue to ride in silence*
Vëstaria
It is late evening when she finally returns to her residence, not entering the orthodox way, but scaling the tree that stands sentinel by Vëstaria's quarters and entering her rooms via the window. Upon entering her room she finds a small note lying forlornly on her dressing table.
My mellon , it read
I fear we are both too quick to anger, and I am painfully aware that I was not at my most patient today (which is an understatement, thought Vëstaria spitefully) but I beg your forgiveness. I should not have spoken as I did, and made light of the situation you are in. I only spoke out of concern for your safety. Yours always, Elion of the House of Furenor
Vëstaria put the note down with a sigh, that was part exasperation and part rueful musing. She knew it was pointless holding a grudge against Elion - trust her, she had tried on more than one occasion - but at the same time she could not get the anger in her heart to extinguish. Perhaps it was due to the fact that like pulling a scab from a wound before it is time, Elion's heedless comments about Bein had brought back memories best left untouched.
*knock on her door* *she turns, slipping the letter into the fireplace* "Yes?"
*her father's voice* "Vëstaria. I wish to come in and speak with you."

Vëstaria
*takes a deep breath and then walks over to the door and pulls it open to reveal her feather*
A striking man, the Lord of the House of Gwyneleth showed little resemblance to his daughter, besides their shared eye colour which was an icy blue with flecks of what looked like silver. His short fair hair was further accented by the robes he wore, which looked as if they were made from spun gold.
"I am here, Vëstaria, to speak of the continuation of your scholarly pursuits," he said, not being one for small talk. "Lady Faelwen has agreed to tutor you in the magic arts as well as escort you to the Grand Library each week were you will conduct your studies under strict supervision. I have informed her of your acceptance and you will begin tomorrow."
*Vëstaria stares at the floor* "And what if I do not accept?" she whispers.
*Idhrenion (her father) purses his lips* "Your acceptance is not up for question, Vëstaria-"
"But I do not wish to be a mage!" Her voice rises. "You do not care one bit for my wants and wishes-"
"You are being over-emotional!" he replies. "Really, Vëstaria, this behaviour is almost mortal in its disgusting amount of anger and rebellion. Your path has always been thus. You will take to your path like a swan to water, and you will not shame our House! Want and wishes? Daughter, those are for mortals and others whose fates are not in the balance...a balance that could save or destroy our kind."
"You have a duty, Vëstaria." *he glides over to the door*. "Is about time that you shouldered it and made it your own."

Nienna*As they get closer to Rivendell, Nienna wonders what will happen when they meet with Elion. No doubt that Vestaria will be there with him, she muses*
Vëstaria
The next day, Vëstaria is walking along the corridor when she hears a murmur of conversation behind the door that leads into the council room. Feeling childish but curious, she backs against the wall and slowly leans towards the source of the noise.
" - the dangers outweigh the benefits?" That voice belonged to her father.
"It is not my place to say." She started. That voice was Elion's. What in the name of the Elvenstar were they talking about? "The scouts have relayed messages on his progress."
"A progress that we have been unaware of until now?" Her father's voice was cool.
"He is practiced at leading those who wish to trail him astray." Elion's tone was rueful. "He must have been in hiding. That 'tis the only explanation to why we have not been aware of his whereabouts until recently."
"His destination?"
"Rivendell."
Vëstaria's heart-rate, something she was used to being unaware of, had slowly begun to speed up. Are they...could it be...?
There was a silence. "He seeks you then, to finish what he started." Her father's tone was matter-of-fact. "Will he succeed I wonder?"
"I highly doubt it," was Elion's cold reply. "I am more than his match. If I have to end him so be it."
"We have already tried to end him once before, Elion, but he escaped . He must not be allowed to return here, lest he finishes what he started."
"On the contrary." Elion's voice lowered. "He must be allowed to return. He must be lulled into a false sense of security and then we will strike." Vëstaria caught something else in his tone...jealousy. A deep, bitter jealousness that she had never heard in his voice before and had never imagined him to possess. Her Elion, her friend - where was he? "And then Bein and his feeble plans will be no more."
Shock.
Numbness.
Sorrow.
Vëstaria leaned heavily against the wall, fighting the urge to sink to her knees. She slowly edged away from the door as if it were poison, the words she now heard mingling in her ears, drowned out by the roaring of a wave in her mind. No. NO. This is not happening, they would never do such a thing! But what she had heard had made it clear that Bein's decision to leave - to leave her - had had nothing to do with keeping her safe.
If he had not left, he would have died.
There was only one option left. Vëstaria fled to her rooms and began to pack, tossing items into carry bags, plans flying through her head, emotions in turmoil. I must find Bein...and warn him before it is too late!

Nienna*she rides up to Bein, hoping to speak to him*
"Sir Bein, may I ask what business you have with Elion?" *she tries to look uninterested but is secretly very curious*
*Bein looks at her curiously, deciding how trust-worthy this Nienna is*
"He and I have unfinished business is all. It is about time to finish it I think. I have been on the run for a very long time, and wish to be no more"
*he watches for her reaction and an expression quickly crosses her face, too fast for him to determine*
"How do you know Elion?" he asks her, hoping to get some sort of answers or reaction out of her.
*Nienna frowns, a guarded look on her face* "Perhaps you should ask him once you see him"
Vëstaria
Vëstaria realised something important when she was halfway out of the residence's grounds, her horse snorting gently as she rode.
She did not know where Bein was.
"By the Elvenstar," she sighed. "I wish I had given this more thought." Her black locks clung to her neck, for the light drizzle that had started when she'd raced to the stables an hour earlier had grown into a heavy downpour - her cloak providing little warmth or protection against the chill.

Nienna*As they ride, Nienna notices Rivendell in the distance. The journey was not as horrible as she thought it would have been. However, the journey was not the part she was most worried about. It was seeing Elion again. Of course, she would be happy to see Vestaria, for she missed her dearly, but who knows how much has changed in the time she had been gone*
Vëstaria
To her utter disbelief, when nightfall came, she spotted the dull glow of a camp against the stark darkness of the night. "Has Fate taken pity on me?" she wondered, shivering partially from the cold and partially due to the feeling that was coming over her. Bein might be there. It was a slim chance but a chance she was willing to take.
*dismounts from her horse and stealthily sneaks up on the camp*

Nienna*Nienna has been avoiding Bein since their conversation about Elion. Meriadoc and Bein are talking about the campfire. She whips her head around, she could have sworn she heard something.... But no, her ears must be playing tricks on her*
Vëstaria
*back pressed against a tree, listening intently - not daring to turn around and see that it mightn't be Bein*
"Drat this weather!" A gravelly yet warm voice exclaims with such energy that Vëstaria cannot help but give a small smile. "If I were in my hobbit hole right now, I'd be snug and cosy by the fireplace with a big slice of apple cob, content and safe."
"You are more than welcome to go back," said an amused voice, female. It sounded painfully familiar, yet Vëstaria could not put her finger on whom it belonged to. "Though it was your idea to come along in the first place, if I recall."
"She is teasing, Meriadoc." Vëstaria couldn't help it. She gasped and quickly slapped a hand over her mouth, her heart aching with longing. Bein .

Nienna*She whips her head around again, at the same time as Bein. She definitely heard something this time. Meriadoc doesn't seem to notice and continues to warm his hands over the fire*
"Did you hear that too?" *she looks at Bein and he nods. He puts a finger to his mouth, a sign for silence and stands. He listens, hoping to catch a glimpse of another sound*
*Meriadoc looks at him strangely* "What are you doing?"
"Shush Meriadoc" *Nienna scolds, then rolls her eyes at him*
Vëstaria
*dares not breath*
"Did you hear that too?" The female speaks, and Vëstaria considers coming out of her hiding spot. But rejects the idea. She is far too nervous to confront Bein now. For all she knew, that female could be someone of...well, high regard to him.
"What are you doing?" comes the gravelly voice, sounding mildly surprised.
"Shush Meriadoc," the female scolds. There is a tense silence and Vëstaria decides she must sneak away now and return and trail them on the morrow. That is, until she accidentally snaps a twig with her boot, the sound splitting through the night. Not again! she moans inwardly.

Nienna*Another noise! This time Bein knows exactly where it has come from. He walks quietly towards a tree. Nienna watches him, as quiet as the night and for a moment she is entranced by the Elf. He stops in front of a tree.... Nienna and Meriadoc are deathly silent in fear of what or who it could be. As Bein starts to circle the tree, he stops*
"Well who have we here" he says as he spots someone.
Vëstaria
Stars . Vëstaria is caught in his green green gaze, her heart catching painfully in her chest. She'd forgotten how beautiful he was, how breathtakingly gorgeous. She ducks her head, glad that her cloak hood is up, so he cannot recognise her nor see the tears that welled in her eyes at the sight of his familiar face. Her hands urged to hold his, her voice longing to speak of him, to even whisper his name. Memories flooded her mind and she fought to keep them at bay.
"Well, who do we have here?" he says, titling his head, green eyes glowing in the darkness. "Speak, stranger. Or on second thoughts-"
she notices him eyeing her soaked attire, "come warm yourself by the fire."
"Is that wise?" comes the female's voice, edged in suspicion.
"I think I will take the risk." Bein's tone is neutral, but his gaze wary as he gestures for Vëstaria to enter their camp.

Nienna*The hooded figure approaches, with Bein behind. Both Nienna and Meriadoc are wary, for they are not fighters*
Vëstaria
She could practically feel the tension in the air. Looking closely at the female, she recognises her with a start - another old acquaintance, Nienna. The gravelly voice must have belonged to what could only be a hobbit, sitting lazily by the fire warming his small hands. Both were looking at her with expressions of wariness and curiosity. Vëstaria cautiously took a seat across from them, doing her best to meld into the shadows.

Nienna*Nienna watches the stranger warily, but decides to trust Bein's judgement*
"Stranger, have you eaten? We have some delicious fruit here" she outstretches her hand, with a fruit in her palm, offering it to the stranger
(When you said "Stranger" I laughed so hard, imagining people's expressions in real life if you said to them, "Hello, Stranger." or "Stranger, hand me that paper, would you?"!!:D)
Vëstaria
*unwilling to reach out for the fruit, lest they see her rather feminine hands*. "I am quite content," she says, in barely a whisper. "But thank you nevertheless."

Vëstaria
*thinks* ("How am I to bring about the subject? Oh, I know - dear Bein, I know you left without an explanation and I should not know where you are, but our people are trying to kill you so please do not enter Rivendell. Indeed. I am sure he'd be THRILLED to comply! Why is this all so hard? How do I see less like a spy and more like a confident?")

((ARRRRRRGH. SORRRRRYYYYYY :P ))Nienna
*she shrinks back, pulling her arm back towards her. she decides to get up and go for a walk, leaving the camp behind*
Vëstaria
Bein turns to frown at her. "I think you offended the esteemed Nienna, stranger (lol :D)." Vëstaria cringes at his tone, wishing that Nienna had not walked off leaving her in the company of these two men.
"I am sorry." Vëstaria cleared her throat. "I did not wish to offend."
"You could always inform us of your business here," Bein replied, his green eyes narrowed shrewdly. "I doubt you stumbled across our camp by accident."
The hobbit burped. ""Scuse me."
Bein shook is head in amusement and rose to his feet in one fluid motion. He turned to her. "Walk with me." It was not an invitation but a command. "Meanwhile, Meriadoc, please go after the lady and try and convince her to return to camp."
The hobbit inclined his head.

Vëstaria
"I am not one for mincing words or small talk," Bein said as they wandered through the trees. His voice was lilting and inviting, so familiar that Vëstaria fought against the mundane emotions that filled her. This was not good, to feel so human. She forced herself to breathe and stay calm. "I would like you to be honest with me of your origins and your purpose here." She saw him rest his hand on the sword by his side. "I have many enemies."
His words were significant. He was all but saying "I have dealt with those who have crossed me before."
Vëstaria had made her decision. She stopped walking. Bein, not noticing, continued to walk for a few paces, before sensing that his audience was not by his side any longer. He paused and turned, looking at her with his green orbs. Then he walked back towards her, waiting, overall body language hinting at his tension.
She lifted her hood, letting it fall back, her eyes never leaving his face.
There was a silence. Bein's eyes widened and he took a step back, shaking his head in disbelief.
"You...Vëstaria ?" The way he said her name undid her and she nodded, tears escaping from her eyes and sliding down her cheeks. "I thought you...you were in Rivendell!" He stepped forward once more, eyes scanning her face. She couldn't tell what he thought of her, or her presence. His face was hard to read.
"I had to find you," she whispered, closing her eyes against the tears.

Nienna*She gazed out over the gorgeous landscape, and suddenly wished for home. She wasn't even sure where home was anymore. She had been travelling around for so long. Meriadoc was the only thing that felt like home anymore. She sat on the ground, and softly started to cry*
"Nienna, dear one, what is wrong?" Meriadoc sat next to her and patted her arm.
She sniffled, then gazed upwards "I just miss home, is all Meriadoc. I don't know what I would do without you, my little hobbit friend"
*She smiled at him and they gazed about together*
Vëstaria
Bein continued to stare at her and she fought against the urge to speak, letting him take a moment to collect himself.
"You are really here," he finally said, smiling slightly. He gave a short laugh. "Or perhaps you are a figment of my imagination."
She had to smile. "Quite the opposite."
He reached out a hand and touched her damp hair. "You look more like a water nixie than an elf!" he teased, and she felt herself grow warm at his words and easy manner. Suddenly he pulled her into an embrace. They stood like that for awhile, the cool night air cocooning around them.
"So..." His tone was playful. "Does this mean that you may have missed my presence in Rivendell? Or do you runaway in the dead of night for just anyone?!"
She reluctantly leaned out of his embrace. "I am afraid it is not only me missing you that has sent me here." His brow furrowed.
"Well." He blew out a breath and ran a hand through his hair. "Perhaps you had best tell ALL of us. Let us return to camp."

Nienna*Meriadoc glances at her* "You are attracted to him, aren't you"
*she laughs softly* "Who wouldn't be attracted to him. I would bet you most women fawn over him" *she shakes her head* "It doesn't matter. I feel his interests may lie elsewhere. Plus, you know your the only man for me Meriadoc"
*she winks at him playfully and he laughs*
"We should head back now Nienna. If you wish it, we can head back to The Shire and bid Bein on his way" *he stands and takes her hand, and she stands too*
"Perhaps. We shall see where the night takes us"
*Hand in hand, they walk back to the camp*
Vëstaria
She feels nervous as she and Bein sit by the campfire, across from one another, waiting for Nienna and the hobbit to return. As if sensing her nerves, Bein smiles warmly at her which sends a whole different kind of nervousness through her, forcing her to duck her head. She still is not used to the fact that he is here. Really here, near her. After three years of being apart could it really be real that they were together once more?
It's the that her keen hearing picks up the footfalls. It must be the hobbit and Nienna.

Nienna*As they walk back into the camp, Nienna realises that the stranger has removed the hood and that she recognises her*
"Vestaria" she whispers
Vëstaria
She hears her name and turns to see a stunned Nienna standing beside the hobbit. Vëstaria smiles shyly, pushing back a strand of her wet hair from her face. "Hello, Nienna," she says. And then she turns to hobbit and smiles. "Well met, fair hobbit."

Nienna*they sit down across from Vesteria. Nienna just watches her for awhile, thinking*
"I have to ask, and please excuse my rudeness, but if you are here then surely Elion is nearby?"
Vëstaria
Irrationally, she felt a surge of irritation at her words. For who was Nienna to ask after Elion? There was no history between the two, as far as she knew, but if there was than could she trust Nienna with her information? Now that Elion, to Vëstaria, was a traitor?
"I was getting to that," Vëstaria calmly replied. "I am not here on a pleasure trip, as you are no doubt aware. I fled Rivendell in haste so as to find you," she directs this to Bein. She hesitates, not knowing whether the other two can be trusted with this information.

Nienna"Ahh Meriadoc, do you see she hesitates? She does not trust us. Alas, it does not matter. We shall be leaving now, for I wish not to see Elion"
*she rises, grabbing her pack and gesturing Meriadoc to do the same. turning to Bein, she bows her head slightly*
"Thank you for allowing us to accompany you here, but I fear we go no further. Good luck with your business"
*with that, she walks to her horse, unties her and walks off, with Meriadoc following behind*
