I've read the books and watch the show. Yes they are different. I really like the show though. I'd be happy to chat with you and anyone else about it:)
I like both as long as I remember to keep them separate, I use to yell/ talk loudly at the screen, when something was different, my biggest upset was the whole Katherine being alive thing.

I love it but stopped reading this series when the ghost writers ruined it. I prefer the TV Elena over the book. I'm definitely up for the next series. I just covered this amongst True Blood/Twilight and the differences between Being Human UK vs US here http://wordsinsync.blogspot.com/2011/...
Definately prefer the series over the book. The book was hopeless. Is the US on the same series/episodes as the UK - we are usually behind and it would be good to avoid spoilers. UK is on series 3
Never read the books but LOVE the show. Looking forward to Season 4 ... some new twists at the end of Season 3 will make it really interesting.
