How was she turned? She and her soon to be husband were out riding one afternoon, and they got lost. She had no fears cause they quickly figured out the path and she was in his protection. As soon as the sun dissappeared, a vampire (her maker) attacked them both. He was so hungry he instantly killed the man, but decided to keep her due to her startling bluish clear eyes. She began to fight him with everything she had, but she began to settle when he threatened to kill her entire family if she didnt leave with him. So that moment, she made the choice to be vampire and leave everything behind her (only let herself that one time think how everybody will be safe from the monster now). Now she still feels her maker is a monster but stays loyal to the end.

History: She was born to the Clan, the people otherwise known as the flatheads. Since she was born, she was considered a child of mixed spirits, because she was born to a Clan woman but resembled the Others, the people known today as cro-magnons. Her biological father was a man of the Others, and on a terrible dare he had raped the Clan woman, who then conceived Ata. Ata completely resembled people of the Others, and had vocalization abilities the Clan people lacked. She was strange and did not belong among the clan; the only home she knew. Her mother was considered a low-ranked woman, unwanted by any man because she had given birth to such a strange child. But the woman loved Ata with all of her heart. But when the woman's fate was brought by a spear of a cruel man of the Others, seven-year-old Ata no longer felt at home in the clan. The orphaned girl had no choice but to run away, her heart broken. She was found by a Cave of the Others, the Mamutoi. At first Ata was disgusted by their very presence, being the people who had raped and eventually killed her mother. But she came to find that these Others were not so horrid; they were actually quite kind, and reminded her of herself. When she came to live at the hearth of a gentle young woman who always treated her kindly, she began to feel more at home than she ever had before. The gentle woman soon had a baby, a little girl who she named Codie. Ata loved the child like a sister, and it made her feel that the woman whom she shared a hearth with was her mother. The girl's days were happy and full of sisterly bliss for five years… until the earthquake came. Ata, who then had lived thirteen winters, was the only one left at camp to watch Codie, while the others hunted. When the earthquake came with its full and raging force, she ran away with the child not thinking of how this would shape her life, only her little sister's safety. After whole moon phases of traveling, the two came across a new Cave, the cave inhabited by the strange, yet welcoming Salmon Hunters.
