Ellie sniffles as she packed trying not to cry but a few tears fell. She pulled a few red curls back and burried her face in her pillow crying softly.

Ellie finishes packing and sighed. She wrote a note knowing Jared probably wouldn't get to read it until the ship had set sail again and for that she was glad.
Dear Jared,
I want you to know that I... well its kinda hard to say... just know that I'll um miss you very much and that...uh I'm thinking about you...and everyone else. I guess it's time for me to to and you probably wont get this until you guys set sail. I hope you have a good life

Ellie had added love almost hesitantly so it was a little smudged but it was there. She folded the tlnote that had a few tears on it and slipped it under Jared's pillow. She picked up the rest of her bags and went up to the front deck.

Jared comes down and searches around for a note. He looks all over Ellie's old cot and under it too. But he can't find anything. So he plopped down on his bed. He heard a soft crinkle under his pillow as he did so. He reached his hand under the pillow and grasped a piece of paper. Pulling it out, he read it.

When Jared was done reading, he was confused....
I will miss you? Love, Ellie?
Why would she have written this note to him in specific?

Kristen went back to the quarters to grab a bag. "Ah Jared you okay you have a funny look on your face," she told him. She saw the note in his hands and read it. "Wow I really hope you know now or she really did have no chance," Kristen said shaking her head.

Jared looked up at Kit, "Did she have feelings for me?" he asked evenly. He had always liked her as a friend and maybe a little more from time to time, but he didn't know she had felt the same.

Kit winced. "Ah so you finally got that?" She asked him. "Yes she's been in love with you since forever and you never noticed," kit said sadly. "I remember the day she gave it wad the day she was also gonna tell you haw.she felt we were docked and she went and picked a rose she placed it behind her ear and she marched to front deck in the most beautiful gown she owned and you were talking with a.girl," kit murmered sitting down. "She was devastated I mean sure you had talked to girls all the time but the girl was really pretty she said," mit murmered trying to think. She shrugged. "Guess I doesn't matter now since you Luke the other woman," Kristen said. She got a bag. "I'm staying at the inn for tonight since we'll be docked for a couple more days o figured aye why not," she said then walked out.

Jared felt terrible. Had he really been hurting Ellie? Even if he didn't know about it he still felt horrible...
He palmed his forehead. "Have a good trip Kit. Say hi to Ellie for me..." he said without looking up.

Ellie walked down and started unpacking her stuff shaking her head. The stuff she had.to endure today...could make anyone loose their spark.

Silver walked down below deck with Jared, "Hey Ellie...? You alright?" she asked quietly

Ellie laughed darkly without humor. "Sure silver I'm fine," she muttered after she finished packer nc :he rest of her things.

"No you're not." observed Silver, sitting down on her own bed across from Ellie's. "come on, Ell. Tell me what happened."

"Silver I'm gonna say this in the nicest way possible I just dont wanna see you right now," Ellie said not unkindly.

Silver sighed and bit her lip, "Alright." she replied quietly, and went back up above deck.

Jared didn't leave though. He came and sat on Ellie's cot. "What's wrong Ellie?"

Ellie clenched her Malawi. "Leave me alone Jared," she said. Under the hard surface she had now surrounded herself with was her old self the one that was sobbing and crying the one that needed help. She looked away.

"Oh come on Ellie," Jared said with a groan, "Why are you being like this? I wasn't aware that I did something to upset you this much." he looked at her.

Ellie ran a hand through her red curls. "Its not just you Jared," she said closing her eyes trying to fight back tears.

Jared frowned, he wanted to help Ellie, but he didn't know how, "Then what is it Ellie?" he asked softly. Noticing that she was close to tears and not wanting to make her cry.

A tear.slipped down Ellie's face. "Kit, My sister is dying," she whispered tears running down her face.

Jared's face slackened and his mouth opened slightly in shock, "Oh Ellie... I-I'm so sorry..." he said looking down.

Ellie nodded looking down tears falling. "Uh....e she trailed doff wiping them away. She closed her eyes going over to his bed and reaching under the.pillow. she sighed and cursed. "You read.it?" She asked him.

Jared looked up, "Yes..." he wasn't sure how she would react to his answer. He did love Ellie, but he wasn't sure if the love was any bigger then a friendship love. He was so confused with his feelings.

Ellie squeezed her eyes shut tight and nodded. 'Well I hope even if you don't love me you'll still act the same around me no mater my feelings," Ellie said. She knew.she was saying that now but she really didn't know what she would say if he chose silver.

Jared touched Ellie's hand lightly, "I wont act different around you. I care about you Ellie. Your one of the best friends I've ever had." he said looking in her eyes.

Ellie nodded looking down a there hands a red curl falling into her eyes. As she looked at there hands she realized.if he didn't chose her she would have.to be okay with it because she needed him in her life. She entwined thee fingers and sat there red hair falling in her face.liking down at there hands thoughts slowly drifting between him and her sister.

Jared gently pushed her red curls out of her face, "Friends?" he asked with a hint of a smile, "For now at least?"

Ellie closed her eyes at his touch. Her thumb grazed over his knuckles and she nodded she leaned in and kissed him softly on the cheek and then walked out head down.

Jared watched her as she left. He wanted to call her back but knew that she had to go.
