K.J. Joyner (spearcarrier) Maybe I want an agent, someone who can help me get the novel I'm working on published. I've heard a lot of conflicting data about that lately.

I mean, it would be *nice* to write as close to full time as possible...

Don't you agree?

William | 8 comments I agree with that. My dad, E.R.Yatscoff is having the same problem, he self-published and doesn't have the time to market his book and write. But he doesn't market his book, so he only writes.

I've heard that you need an agent to get into almost any publisher these days. There are lots of websites with agent lists if you search in google.

I created an alternative you might be interested in.Come learn more about it.

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 7 comments I went straight to my publisher (Malachite Quills) with no intermediary. They took care of getting the editor, the cover art, reviews, listing it to Barnes & Noble & Amazon & some of the other publicity. I do publicity myself, but you will have to do that agent or no. I'm not really sure what an agent would have done for me that the publisher isn't doing or that I'm not taking care of myself.
