I was standing on a mountain of black rock, the air hot and shimmering in front of me. Behind me, harsh shouts echoed, and I somehow knew that they were after me. I scrambled higher and higher, seeking refuge from the shouts and heat. Dark clouds swirled overhead, and suddenly a streak of blindingly white lightning hit the ground in front of me. I threw up my hand and was knocked backwards several feet to land heavily on my stomach.
