Why do you like it so much?

(I thought I'd make some discussion 'genres' for the basis of the books we seem to read in our group, so far!)

So far my favourite fantasy author is Brandon Sanderson. I like his style of writing, and so far all of his books have been great!

Fantasy is my absolute favorite genre of books!.

Favorite authors include:
George. R.R.Martin.
Brandon Sanderson.
Scott Lynch.
Jennifer Fallon.
And too many more to name.

Why do I like it so much?. It's hard to say why exactly.
I like the pseudo-historical settings, the magic, the action, the sword fights, and the battles. I even enjoy the old style monarchies and the politics surrounding them.
I love ominous prophecies, and quests to save the world, and Knights in shining Armour and damsels in distress. I love the traditional good guy's or the anti-hero seeking redemption.

I've read traditional fantasy books for as long as I can remember. Recently I have decided to jump on the urban fantasy bandwagon.

Even as a young kid I loved fairytales and story's filled with magic.
Mr Walt Disney has much to answer for!.
