Hi all the poll for May's read is at the bottom of the groups home page.
Thanks and take care.

We will also be reading in May as a second book read a Ray Bradbury novel. Ray Bradbury is an author that Robert recommends highly as well as Joe R Lansdale and many other writers.
Voting page for May 2012 is @ http://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/64...

Open Road Media (openroadmedia) | 2 comments It's National Short Story Month this May and, for those of you who don't already know, Robert McCammon has several short stories available, totally free, to read on his website. http://www.robertmccammon.com/fiction...

Several of which have one awards. Hope you like them as much as we do!

Great thanks!

Addy | 7 comments Has anyone read Speaks the Nightbird? If so, would you recommend?

message 7: by Allen (new)

Allen | 2 comments Speaks the Nightbird is fantastic. Read it.

message 8: by Char (new)

Char I agree with Allen, Addy! I am a HUGE fan of the series that starts with that book. Be aware that it's not horror though, it's more like historical fiction with horrific elements. And the books just get better and better. I am anxiously awaiting the newest one, River of Souls.

Allen | 2 comments When is McCammon's new book due out? I can't wait for it.

I haven't made a formal announcement because I'm waiting for Subterranean to do so. But The River of Souls will be published in May 2014.

Hopefully I'll be able to announce it soon!

Hunter

message 11: by Char (new)

Char Thanks, Hunter! I am so psyched!

message 12: by Addy (new)

Addy | 7 comments Cool! The only thing is I have the second part. Is the first one an eBook? I'll have to check.

message 13: by Char (new)

Char The first one is Speaks the Nightbird.

message 14: by Char (new)

Char It is available as an ebook.

Yes, The River of Souls is the fifth Matthew Corbett novel.

message 16: by Char (new)

Char Randolph, I am so green with envy. The Providence Rider was so good and to have a signed copy? That's just awesome. :)

message 17: by Char (new)

Char Hunter, didn't I read about a new Sci-fi/horror epic that Mr. McCammon is writing? I tried to find it on the website, but I couldn't locate it.

Yes, that's the book he's currently working on. He wrote about it in his August update:

Robert McCammon: Rockets Away!

message 19: by Char (new)

Char *squeak* I knew I read it somewhere! Thank you, Hunter. REALLY excited about this one.

message 20: by Char (new)

Char I'm not sure, but if it goes by page count, Simmons has an easy win. :)

Addy | 7 comments Is there a group read for June?

message 26: by Char (new)

Char There doesn't appear to be, Addy. :(

I've been too busy to remember to check in here to suggest anything. I'll try to come back later this week with a suggested July read.

Hunter

message 28: by Brian (new)

Brian (briankmello) | 2 comments Why not 'Gone South'? It represents a period in McCammon's career where he was frustrated with the publishers and precedes his hiatus.

message 29: by Hunter (new)

Hunter (goathunter) | 154 comments Mod
Gone South was the group read last September. We should probably wait a little while before doing it again.

How about Stinger? It doesn't look like it has been a group read here yet.

Kenneth McKinley | 36 comments OK. Spring is in the air and this group has been dormant for way too long. Get the shock paddles and lets revive this corpse! Charlene, where are you???

message 31: by Char (last edited Mar 13, 2015 12:43PM) (new)

Char Too busy with HA, Horror After Dark and Char's Horror Corner. And mom!
I preordered my signed copy of The Border though. I hope it comes in on time!
I would love to do a group read of that when it comes out. ?

message 32: by Jennicem (new)

Jennicem | 30 comments I'm in for that!!!

Yeeeeess. I have my preorder in, too. :)

Char It's the first signed book I've EVER ordered. I ordered through Cemetery Dance though, and have since been told by a few others that they did not have good service with them. :(
I hope nothing goes wrong with my order. My heart would break.
Maybe if Hunter sees this he could assuage my fears.

Hunter (goathunter) | 154 comments Mod
I've never heard of bad service from CD, and if there is a problem, they will address it. You will have to wait, though, for Subterranean to ship the books to CD before CD is then able to ship them out....

I'm proofreading The Border right now (my second read).

Hunter

message 38: by Jen (new)

Jen (delphyne) | 17 comments Charlene, when I preordered I Travel by Night (from Amazon) it showed up at my door much earlier than I was expecting. Maybe Subterranean will get The Border out to CD early and you won't have to wait. Congrats on ordering a signed copy! I'm sure it will be worth it if you do have to wait. :)

message 39: by Char (new)

Char Jennifer, it was very reasonably priced-under$30.00. IIRC

message 40: by Char (new)

Char I'm sure it will be worth the wait, too.I'm so excited about it! :)
