Allix blinked, taking in the random place she'd chosen from the Intersection: it didn't seem familiar. Groaning, she rolled her neck, working out the cramp that had formed during the drift. Her ocean-colored eyes took in the scene before her with a frown. "Damn: all that work, and the place is effing empty ?" She took a step forward, her voice bouncing back from the walls. "Hello? Anyone home?"
Jack peered around the corner, eyes blank and indifferent. "Hello." His voice floated out from everywhere at once, almost like an echo; creepy, and sinister... Yet not angry, not happy... Just THERE.
Allix turned her head, trying to find the source of the voice. Her hair fell around her shoulders, stopping at the middle of her back. "Uhm. . . Hello?" Her voice was tiny in comparison, her blue green eyes wide.
"Hello," he repeated. He ghosted out from behind a staircase, his coat tails floating behind him eerily. He smiled thinly, eyeing her curiously. "What brings you here?"
She swallowed thickly, barely aware as she took a step back. "Um. . . Just passing through." Her dark eyelashes lowered over her eyes as she looked down at the ground, clearly intimidated. "Er, I didn't mean to. . . Intrude. I honestly don't even know where I drifted to." she gave a hesitant smile.
"I'm Jack, The Pumpkin King," He said with a deep, flourishing bow. Theatrical to the last, he stood with an almost too-wide smirk. There was something... OFF with this guy. "Pleased to meet you."
She shrunk back a little, before clearing her throat. "Um, "Pumpkin King?" Her face was positively confused. "Is that an inside joke or something?" Her blue green eyes flicked back to look at the background behind him. "Where am I?"
"Uhm. . . . . M'kay. Whatever you say." Her eyes scanned the room behind him for any sign of a door. Or, you know, if push came to shove, a window. Any sort of exit. Not seeing one, she glanced back at Jack. "The Halloweentown? Where is that, exactly?"
Allix swallowed. "Uh huh, I get that. But. . where is that?" Her eyes flicked over to him, catching his almost- amused somewhat-smile. It changed his face, nice looking but somehow seeming a bit out of place. Like it wasn't something he did often. "Um, actually can you just point me in the right direction, so I can get out of your hair?" Somehow, she'd transformed from the tigress demanding someone to be there into a whimpering house cat in a matter of seconds. Intimidation is a powerful thing.
Jack laughed stiltedly. "Oh? Why are you so eager to leave? Tell me of your travels, why don't you? I'm a curious individual, and curiousity, of course, killed the cat."
Allix tilted her head to the side, nervously biting down on her lip. "I just, erm, don't wanna be a bother." Her voice tinged with her Brittish accent, which had the tendency to peek out when her emotions were on overdrive. Like, say, nervous-ness. She paused at his request, her blue green eyes momentarily lighting up. "I've drifted to almost every place," She paused. "But this is the first time I've come here."
"I could've guessed that, silly. I'm guessing you're not dead, judging by your audible heartbeat." Jack cocked his head, another small, uncertain grin appearing.
She smiled slightly before hearing the second part of what he'd said. Which pretty much killed any ease she was starting to feel. "D-did you just say dead?" Her wide eyes blinked. "You can hear my heartbeat?" Allix took a step back, away from Jack and his. . . . . Slight crazy-ness.
"Well, yeah. Everyone's dead here." Jack looked at her in confusion, cocking his head to the side. His eyes were completely black, no sign of an iris or whiteness.
"Uh huh," Drifting back now sounds like a wonderful idea, The thought was slightly hysterical. "Riight, yeah, I definitely drifted to the wrong place." Her gaze flicked up, seeing his eyes go completely black. "Sorry, I really didn't mean to d-disturb you." Allix's ocean eyes grew wider and she stumbled back another step.
"There's no need to be scared, milady. Just because we're dead, doesn't mean we're mean, in this town of Halloween." Jack took a smooth step forward, head still cocked. "Sit with me awhile. Have some snake and spider stew, tell me about your travels."
Her eyes stayed locked on him, hesitant and unsure. "Mhmm, I-" She looked up at him, starting to see no, he didn't have to keep her around out of obligation, but stopped. Her feet stopped shuffling backwards. "What places are you curious about?" She wrinkled her nose at the thought of Jack's version of the stew. "But uh, you don't have to feed me or anything." She gave him a small smile. "Thank you, though."
"Just anywhere besides here and Christmastown is interesting for me," he spoke gloomily. "Halloweentown is just so... ordinary now."
She paused, stepping a little closer, momentarily putting black Wes and creepy stew aside. "What do you mean? The Halloweentown you mentioned seems. . . Interesting. Ordinary seems like the last way o describe it." She tilted her head to the side, wrapping her curls around her ears. "But I've been to Alice and Wonderland a few times. Have you ever heard of it?"
Allix laughed, the sound cracking the tension. "Alice. You know, like, the girl who fell down the rabbit hole?" She grinned at him, her eyes lighting up at the confusion on his face. Her blue eyes watched him as she stepped a little closer.
