I'm sorry to say that I had never even heard of this book until Kerri picked it. I can't wait to read it.
This book has been sitting on our bookshelf for years...I started it once when the boys were younger but we didn't get too far. Can't wait to dive in for real this time!
I've been wanting to re-read this one for a long time (I barely remember the first time at all) and I finally have time to read along with the group! I picked it up from the library and started reading today, very excited!
I have ordered it from the library (in my sons name who is 6!Lol!). Looks fun, I had not heard of it either.
I just finished reading "The Phantom Toolbooth" and I thought it was delightful! As a teacher, I can imagine this book being a perfect read aloud. There is so much to learn and discuss from this book. Whimsical yet full of lessons! I would love to start the school year with book to motivate the students in achieving anything they set their mind to. A 5 star read!
April,
So glad you enjoyed the book. I am reading this aloud to my sons and they are enjoying it. The plays on words are fun. At times it is a bit challenging to read aloud because of things like the whether man and not weatherman. It would be fun to discuss all the interesting vocabulary in a classroom setting as well.

We just finished chapter 5 last night and I had no idea that "short shrift" actually meant something until I was looking up some stuff this morning.
By the way, has anyone ever thought about their favorite letter and what it might taste like? I know that my favorite letter to write in cursive is a capital "L" but I surely don't know what my favorite tasting letter is...I'll have to think about that!
