On the Southern Literary Trail discussion

This author was brought to my attention by a radio interview on the publication of his latest book, "Alabama Stories". I looked him up and am interested in 2 of his earlier books, "Almost Family" and "Chicken Dreaming Corn". Has anyone in the group read him, and what can you tell me about his writing?
