I think Mary would be in my top 5 for the most evil of evil, and in the end she proves can kill.

Mary is a very disturbed child yet, I loved her mind. In her mind there was only one way to live in Everlost and did not want to change that. I empathized with Mary to an extent because she did what she thought was best. However, she is still evil and coniving as any character I have seen.
I love Mary! When she was that motherly leader to the afterlights in the first book, I found it very annoying and I hated her. But when she turned into a villain I couldn't help to like her. It's very smart of Neil to write her from the girl-next-door to the evil selfish girl. And yes she's in my top 5 too!
Finally I can comment here. Alright guys just finished the story and I have no shame whatsoever in saying that I thoroughly hate Mary she is the worst character in all the existence of all the worlds hereafters and all other universes. And here I thought that I hated dolores umbridge sheesh. No way Umbridge is like a girl in a candy shop compare to Mary. She is indeed that offspring of the devil himself. I don't have the means to say how much I hated her. She was the most heartless creature known to all the books. I mean i'm just so done with her and Everbooks. sigh
Mary was nice at first, I actually shipped her and Nick until she started going psychotic like instigating murders and stuff. It was horrible.
