Ashley (ashley1212) Hey group! I recently watched "My Week with Marilyn" and I want to read a book on Marilyn now. I know there are tons to choose from so I was wondering if anyone had any reccommendations for me. Thanks, I appreciate it!

Kai Coates (southernbohemian) I read Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates this year. It's fictional, so not a true biography if that is what you're looking for. Oates dwells a lot on Marilyn's menstruation and there's a lot of man-hating going on, but it was still very good. Marilyn was such a bundle of contradictions, and Oates did a beautiful job of mapping out her own version of Marilyn.

I'm sure Ashley has long ago made her choices, but for the record, Gloria Steinem has also written on Marilyn Monroe. Besides her book, one early edition of MS. magazine focused on MM. (I believe that one has become a collector's prize.)

Marilyn Norma Jean by Gloria Steinem

Kirsten (kmcripn) A recent bio on one aspect of Marilyn's life is Joe and Marilyn: Legends in Love by C. David Heymann.
