I'm in an "interesting" spot right now, as I'm sitting down to work on my first novel. "Acid" was a collection of columns that I often wrote between midnight and 6 a.m. on my own time after work. I'm trying to figure out what's going to work for me as far as time/place, and it's an ongoing process. Not an easy one, either. I'm sure it's the same for a lot of you.
My best guess so far is setting a SET schedule. I'm trying from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. every weekday morning, then I'm taking an hour to hit the treadmill to see if it'll trigger some of that alpha-state creativity (and because I need to lose the rest of my beer gut). Then heading to work from 2 to 10. That'll leave me an hour to practice guitar before I go to bed and start it all over again.
I'm taking the weekends off, though. I'm reserving my weekends to work on music production and on trying to be a social human being (also a work in progress).
