Ape | 8 comments Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the bookcrossing website? I've not been able to connect for the last 3 days. All other websites work thought. I'm not computer literate enough to work out if it's me or them who is having the problem!

I just tried now, and all seems to be fine. You could try clearing your cache and cookies to see if that helps.

Did you change your firewall in someway that might have blocked the site?

Ape | 8 comments Hi, as far as I am aware I haven't changed anything at all! It's at times like these I wish I was more computer literal. Thank you for the advice though. I shall find out how to clear my cache and cookies and see if that does anything =)

Do you use windows?

Click the "Start button" and the start menu will pop up.

You should see (in the big white rectangular box on the left) the icon of the web browser that you use.

Right click the icon for the web browser, and a little box should open that says

Browse the Internet
Internet Properties
Remove from this list

left click on "Internet properties", and another box opens. You should see something that says

browsing history... click on the "Delete..." underneath that and another window opens that lets you tick off the things you want to delete.

Good luck!

Ape | 8 comments Thank you! I have cleared off the cache and my cookies, but to no affect. I've kind of got in touch with bookcrossing via a European support site. I am partly relieved to hear that a couple of other people are having a similiar problem, although no one seems to know what the solution is...

The last thing I can suggest is to change browsers. I use Chrome and am having no trouble from Italy.

Now I am officially out of suggestions!

Ape | 8 comments It's actually fixed now although I have no idea what the problem was. I managed to get in touch with bookcrossing support, and they asked me to look up information. Then I got another message and apparently the hosting provider has now made some network modifications and its fixed. It's so wierd that everyone else I know/have spoken to had no problems what-so-ever. Well, at least it wasn't something really silly like I'd accidentally put a block on it myself with a firewall or something like that. That would have been really embarassing!

Yay!! So glad you're back on line.

Kaz (imuzak12) | 6 comments I just found this thread now. Looking back the date of the first post by Ape, it might be due to World Book Night on April 23. I remembered that the BC website got extremely slower around the midnight of April 23 on US time, which was early morning of April 23 in Europe, I believe. (Or it could be some other reasons with your PC or in your region.) I guess WBN was very popular this year among BCers in the world:)

Now *I'm* having trouble with the BC website. I haven't been able to sign in for the last two days. My browser can't even open the home page... anyone else having trouble?

message 11: by Ape (new)

Ape | 8 comments I'm not having trouble now - I've sent you a PM about it.

Thanks Ape. I just sent off an email to the name you gave me. Keep your fingers crossed.
