Hi, I'm Manny. I do research in computational linguistics, and have written a couple of books about it - one of them together with Beth Ann, who's also a GoodReads friend. I've been on GoodReads a few weeks, and like reading and writing reviews.

Well hello there! First chance I've gotten to hop on here! Thanks, Jessica, for inviting me! I am an island dweller, been living on St. Thomas for a little while. This island gives me PLENTY of observation opportunity and I hope to one day write about my experiences here. As for now, short term rather than long, I'd like to make up a word and have OTHER people define it! Let's see...how about...."Pretilinous." Aaaaaand, GO!

Oh, phonetically that would be pronounced "pre-TIL-in-us." I do not have the "shwa" capability on the keyboard, but you get the idea. :-)

I love to read, and I like playing silly word games, like A-Z word association type. I found your group and wondered if this is a place where I can start such threads.

Let me know if it's okay for me to do so, or are my game ideas too silly?

Ok, so I'll swallow my pride: how do you add folders?

I don't know if you can unless you are one of the moderators (do you want to be?) Otherwise, post or email me and I'll set it up.

I tried to set up a folder for someone on another group and could not.

wait-you can set up folders? what? what the heck is a folder?

A folder is the main heading--like Autobiographies, Hi, etc., on this list. You may be able to set up your own, but if not, let me know and I can set one up.

Under the folder are the speciic topics.
