Glinda Harrison (glindaharrison) | 7 comments Just picked Bethany's Sin up. I recall reading it years ago after I read They Thirst. Wasn't Bethany's Sin the book that Gayle's character was reading, disliked and then threw across the room?

message 18: by Hunter (new)

Hunter (goathunter) | 154 comments Mod
Good memory, Glinda! Yes, Gayle tried to read "a nasty little book called BETHANY'S SIN," but she only made it to the fourth chapter. 8-)

Glinda Harrison (glindaharrison) | 7 comments That was a very memorable event in the book. Fans love it when authors do little inside jokes like that. Gotta love an author with a sense of humor about their work!

Indeed! There's another link (actually, two) between THEY THIRST and the short story "Makeup."....

message 27: by Anji (new)

Anji (delenn40) | 26 comments Thankyou Lou,it's such a long time since I read one of his books, mourned and wondered about his absence like so many others, but am really pleased to see him back in the driving seat so to speak.

Possibly he has greater stories to come.

Char I'm sure of it!
I can't wait for the epic horror that he's working on.

Anji, Boy's Life is my favorite, and it would be extremly hard for McCammon to top it, in my eyes. That said, I love everything he writes, I really do. I am finding that rereading some of his old work is giving me a chance to see things differently this time around, and it's allowing me to witness his growth as a writer. There is a huge amount of skill sprouting up in between Baal and the Matthew Corbett series. : )

message 30: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 86 comments I'll second that!

message 31: by Anji (new)

Anji (delenn40) | 26 comments Boy's Life has to be in my opinion one of his finest, along with Wolf's Hour, which is absolutely superb,I have to admit that I only got halfway through Baal (read it a LONG time ago) and I had to put it down,as I found it deeply disturbing and very dark. It unsettled me,maybe it had something to do with the way I was feeling at that time,I don't know, but I still have the book though and may attempt to read it again someday.

message 32: by Char (new)

Char Yeah, I recently reread the WH. I had forgotten how good it was. I have the new collection about Gallatin, but I haven't been able to read it yet.

message 33: by Joanne (new)

Joanne Moyer (catwoman56) | 101 comments I think I've mentioned once twice or a hundred times that Wolf's Hour is one of my favorite books and I also loved The Hunter From the Woods and highly recommend it to everyone, but Boy's Life is absolutely one of my all time favorites.

message 34: by Anji (new)

Anji (delenn40) | 26 comments Charlene,I am unable sadly to get a copy of the Gallatin 'Hunter in the Woods' book,I live in the UK and it isn't available here sadly, but maybe one day :-)

message 35: by Char (new)

Char That sucks, Anji. I would offer to loan it to you, but Kindle loans are only available to US borrowers. : (

message 36: by Anji (new)

Anji (delenn40) | 26 comments Aw that's very kind of you Charlene, thankyou anyway. I will get a copy I am sure xxx

message 37: by Hunter (new)

Hunter (goathunter) | 154 comments Mod
The Hunter from the Woods will be released in a trade hardcover edition in November. That edition will be orderable from Amazon UK. Unfortunately, Subterranean Press only holds North American ebook rights; that's why the ebook isn't available in the UK (yet).

Anji (delenn40) | 26 comments FANTASTIC hunter...I will make a note of that! I will be one happy bunny,as I absolutely adored the Michael Gallatin character, even though he is a werewolf,I remember feeling a strange kind of empathy for him, also a great sadness at times.

Char This book is so darn good!
I finally was forced to put it down last night around 12:30 because I had to get up for work today. It's VERY hard to put down a McCammon book at 92%.

Chris (chrismccaffrey) I saw They Thirst as an e-book on Amazon today. Resisting the urge to buy it at $10 because it may get a lower price for a day or so like other ones did.

I thought the same thing recently! I have a couple other of his e-books to finish then I may breakdown and pay the $10.
