EVERYONE LISTEN TO THE MAYOR! Go!

Calliope stood at the back of the hall, hoping she wouldn't be chosen to go up.

The Mayor begins his speech on why people had been Chosen uprising...blahblahblah...rules...blahblahblah...consequences...blahblahblah... and then everyone perks up. "And the Chosen Ones for this month are!

Number 1: (pulls out slip of paper)

Number 2: (pulls out slip of paper)

Number 3: (Pulls out slip of paper)
Autie Charlize Larsen ooo sisters!
Number 4: (pulls out slip of paper)

Number 5: (pulls out slip of paper)
Merrick the Plumber!
Well I can't quite read number 6 so I'll have it reprinted shall I? Yes I think I will.

Calliope laughed, "You gotta be kidding right?"

When no one answered,she shook her head slowly and walked out disgusted.

Ivy breathed a sigh of relief.She didn't have to go up. She looked around for Elisa, knowing that she was here somewhere. Her heart sank when she thought about Elisa going above ground.

Lorelai held her breath the whole time and finally released it when her name was chosen. There was no way she would be able to survive above ground. She was just a maid. She was pretty fast considering and given all the large bags of garbage she had to haul on a daily basis, she had gained some lean muscles. She turned around, heading back to her duties

Emily was secretly hoping her name would get chosen, though she knew there wasn't much of a chance. She was leaning against one of the walls to the side, watching and listening.

Zaina streamed through the crowd as she heard the names called. She shrugged. Oh well. Maybe next month. she thought, slightly dissapointed, hoping no one noticed.

Only someone did... Emily averted her gaze towards the girl and slowly made her way over, through the clumps of people in her way. She nudged the girl and whispered something just loud enough for the girl besides her to be the only one to hear.
"You too, huh?"

Zaina nodded. "Yep. But what can ya do?" she said matter of factly.

"Absolutely nothing. That's the thing."
Emily slowly smiled the next time she met eyes with the girl.
"I'm Emily. And your name would be?"

"I'm Zaina." She said, giving her a small smile.

Merrick leaned against a wall for support. So much for the whole plumber thing He gathered his strength and headed to the front of the room, looking for he others.

"Pretty nice to meet you."
Emily returned the smile.
"I've always wanted someone to talk to about all my theories and stuff... About what's up there and all... Care to share your own sometime or something?"

Zaina nodded in apreciation. "Same with me. I've always wondered what was up there. Maybe another civilization or something."

(( My modem got switched off --_--' I'm not making a very good first impression on you, aren't I? >w< ))

"Exactly."
Emily's lips tilted up into a smile.
"Y'know, I've never met anyone else who thinks the way I do when it comes to this... But then again, you can't really talk about it, can you?..."

(( > w < no s'okay. i have a dead battery so everytime my charger comes out, my laptop shut off. *sigh* i'm cool :P))

"Exactly."
Emily's lips tilted up into a smile.
"Y'know, I've never met anyone else who thinks the way I do when it comes to this... But then again, you can't really talk about it, can you?..."

"Exactly."
Emily's lips tilted up into a smile.

She shrugged. "I guess I would have to say the same thing."

"Yeah... Well Zaina, I believe we have something in common."
Emily sent her another smile.
"We should meet up some more or something."

Zaina nodded and smiled at her. "Sure why not? That actually sounds...fun."

"Then I'll see you around sometime... And I apologize for making that sound like I'm a guy asking you out on a first date..."
She added awkwardly.

Zaina laughed. "S'okay i guess. And sorry ahead of time because I'm not usually this cheerful-or nice. Let's see how long you can put up with me." she said, smiling.
