Aaron Thibeault (thebookreporter) | 16 comments Just finished `Imagine: How Creativity Works` by Jonah Lehrer. The book explores creativity in individuals, groups, businesses & organizations, cities and societies. The work is heavy on anecdotes (as books by journalists tend to be) but also does a good job of covering the science of creativity that is emerging out of experiments and studies in neuroscience and social psychology. There is much to be learned about creativity here, and how we can get more of it in our personal lives and in the groups, organizations, cities and societies of which we are a part. I`ve written an executive-style summary of the book available at newbooksinbrief.wordpress.com

Cheers,
Aaron

Tyler (alienlanes) | 9 comments I will definately read this soon. was great and so was similar book Where Good Ideas Come From: The Natural History of InnovationHow We Decide

I really like summaries of these non-fiction science books. Even better I don't have to write them. They are helpful to retain the ideas and concepts of the books. I will check this out after I read Imagnie.

Tyler (alienlanes) | 9 comments Still waiting on my copy from the library but I found this yesterday.
Imagine didn't get a great review and Lehrer responded:

and her is the reviewer's reply.

All civil and pretty informative.

Laura | 4 comments Regarding creativity, The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron is so awesome in terms of spirituality and creative beings!

Oscar | 2 comments I read Imagine and really enjoyed it. I particularly liked its discussion of mixing and sharing ideas with others, which I have to work on because I am an introvert. :/

I want to read The Artist's Way eventually too.

Todd Johnson (todd534) | 2 comments The Chabris review is particularly interesting in light of the recent Lehrer hullabaloo ( http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/03/opi... ) and this book's recall.
