Winner for the month of May 2012.

Susan (susanthomas) Very cool. I'll hopefully get to read two of her books this month, because she is author of the month for Nordic Noir here on Goodreads.

Man, this book has my vibes all out of kilter. Can't even guess what's happening next.

Well I find that my vibes are way off base. This was by far the best book Yrsa has put out to date. She had a lot of red herrings in this book. Trapped me with her probable first one.

Susan (susanthomas) I just finished Last Rituals and had intended to dive right into Ashes to Dust afterward, but I was so put off by Rituals I think I might need a breather. I may not get to this book at all.

That's too bad, this book was interesting with the eruption of a volcano, and how people reacted to the rape of a girl. With flash backs
and interesting red herrings.

I might get to it next week. Right now I'm reading Headhunters, which is a fun read so far. Nice change!

Susan (susanthomas) Finished Headhuntersand about 1/3 of the way through Ashes to Dust. While I still don't think it's great, it is better than Last Rituals. Perhaps her books get progressively better as the series develops.

Florence Wetzel (florencewetzel) Just started this, and it's really intriguing. I don't know anything about Iceland, except for reading Smilia's Sense of Snow about a million years ago. Good choice for the group read!

Susan (susanthomas) Just finished Ashes to Dust. Still think this series needs polish but came away from this one realizing the characters have grown on me a bit. I'm sure I'll read more of Yrsa Sigurðardóttir when the occasion arises.

Rachel | 53 comments I read her first three...enjoyed them enough but had enough after book 3

It might be that my memory doesn't serve me well (wouldn't be for the 1st time ;), but isn't Smilla set in Danmark and then Greenland?

Whoops! Excuse my bad American geography!

Florence Wetzel (florencewetzel) This book was great--the plot just kept twisting, and I loved all the scenic description, especially about the volcanic eruption. The Goth secretary Bella is one of my all-time favorite Scandi crime characters; she was hysterical, and I loved the interplay with her and her boss.
