Trase took a deep breath and jogged towards the moutain that he was fairly certain that all the champions could see
Swaroop slowly entered the arena and looked at the huge crowd. He was nervous but equally determined to bring glory to Gryffindor. He was not able to see his competitors but he knew that they might have already started their task.He sent a flying kiss to Emma and started running towards the mountain.
*In the Stands*
Rhode, Ash, Daniel, Alexis and Mia all sat in the stands, looking out across the arena.
"This is going to be soo cool!" Mia exclaimed happily.
Holding is omnioculurs to hie eyes, Ash smiled and looked around the arena for the competitors. "Definately!"

Swaroop ran fast and reached the mountain earlier than expected. He could see an opening at the top of the mountain which looked like a cave.He could also see Trace at the entrance of the cave.'The cave is just a part of this arena, its might be a tricky distraction off the task' he thought and decided to go and search the area behind the mountain first.
"Ohh look, they're exploring that cave." Alexis commented, taking Ash's omnioculars from him, muchto his disgust.
"Oi! Next time you want a pair, buy your own!" He said, bumping her with his shoulder, the way an older brother would.

Gemeiac stuck out her tongue and headed for the mountains. She knew what to expect, and had her wand clamped firmly in her hand. She smiled confidently, climbing. She actually was taking the harder route. When she reached the top, she wasn't even out of breath. She peered around, her tangled mess of hair whipping around in the wind. Huh. Maybe she hit a different cave? Oh, well. Swaroop, Chase, or Chret weren't even in sight. She started chuckling to herself. Although there was no back-pack, there was no enemy. "Silencio." she hissed, and after that everything outside of the cave was one hundred percent silent.
After that, she skipped over to a small rock, and pointed at it with her wand, "Tergeo." she chirped, and flicked her wand. The rock became clean, smooth, and dfinetly looked polished. "I might as well find somewhere to stay. Tommorrow is a good time to strike. I need a lot of daylight, so I might as well look for the back pack later." Gemeiac sat on the rock, her legs crossed over, and perched her head on one hand. She was thinking up how to find the back-pack, yet by not harming the others. She shrugged. She had all sorts of spells in her head, and she had memorized them all. After all, she payed extra attention in ech and every class.
Again, she held out her wand and whispered a charm, then grinned. Now this cave was comepletly invisible, and you couldn't undo it without a spell. She chuckled, lay down, shut her eyes, and fell asleep.

After an unknown amount of hours, Gemeiac blinked open her sleepy eyes. Daylight hit her face hard, and she widened her eyes, trying to get a bit warmer. She quickly became free of fatigue, and started pacing bck and forth. Perhaps she should go down the mountain... Her back pack was most likely somewhere atop, or somewhere at the bottom. Or maybe even the middle... It didn't matter. First, she would scan the middle of the cave. Tehn, if she had found no others and no backpack, she's just plainly continue on. After all, she did have nothing to lose, right?
Gemeiac grabbed her wand and fit it into her palm, turning this way and that. "Perfect." Her wand was still in good condition, showing no one else had come to visit while she had taken a "nap". She grinned confidently. "Better get moving," she muttered under her breath. Immediatly, she was on her feet and climbed into the open world. After that, she jumped out of her hiding spot. She hit the ground soft.y, still on her feet. After that she was off and running. She looked under every peeble, stone, rock, boulkder, behind every tree, bush, and hedge, and made sure she had checked all around before continuing. She had hit three empty caves, and was approaching the last cave on the middle side. Gemeiac sniffed the air. Food. Suddenly, her mouth began to water... She was definetly hungry! She whipped out her wand, preparing an attack. The food would be hers if no one was there, but if there was someone there, they'd either better be friendly, or she blast him away.
But then she frowned. She needed to keep oing., She ignored the smell and slid down the steep slope of the mountain. FInly, she hit solid Earth. Smiling to herself, Gemeiac was panting a bit. But she quickly brushed it off and sprinted off and into the dense woodland, with pines and shrubbery. On the way, she would stop occasionaly and search her surroundings. Now, she was approaching the back-side of the mountain. This was one of the last places to look... Gemeiac bit her lip. She tightened the grip on her wand, and perked her senses, and slowly creeped around.

Just as Trase was about to find Swaroop, a Lynx appeared before him.
"To keep those treasures, though must answer this riddle." It said, in a harmonious voives. its tail flicking lazily.
It recited:
'married leader and a single slave
The toothless elder now gone to his grave
The death for which the younger took the blame
Committed by the one he could not name
They've ten between them, ten that do not see
Now name the leader and his enemy'

trase said
It bowed its head slightly. 'Correct. You may keep your treasures." It moved out of the way, but said. "But beware. They are your treasures, and yours alone."
A bogart appeared before Gemeiac, blocking her path. It materialized into her greatest fear and slowly began closing the gap between the two of them.

"Ugh, a were-wolf." Gemeiac felt sick to her stomach. "I like cats, not dogs." she shut her eyes, and tried thinking of her favorite cat, Willie. "Come on, go away go away go away go away!" she started raising her voice. What keeps these guys away? she despratly tried to come up with something.... Aha! She slowly opened her eyes, turned and ran. Her backpack was behind that boggart for sure. "Wolfsbane, Wolfsbane, where are you?" Surely in this thick of pies, Wolvesbane would be growing! She finally spotted a bushel of it, and sent a silent thank you up to the sky. Then she sprinted for it. When it was finally in her grasp, she got back up and raced back toward the boggart.
When she reached the nasty thing, it reformed, but she held out the bushel and shut her eyes tight. Please work, please work. she feared were wolves for a reason.

"whoo! go Trase!" Lily cried, perched on the edge of the arena as a lithe black cat.

The boggart disappeared from in front of Gemeiac in a flash of light, revealing an empty dirt path.

Gemeiac peeled opened her eyes. Then she breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Then she whipped her gaze around the arena. Nothing except a... dirt pathway? Well, either it was the road to her failiure, or the road to her backpack. "It has to be here.": she grit her teethh. Panting, she stuffed the wolfsbane in her jacket pocket. Then, she continued down the pathway, wary, but in a hurried pace.

((Dude, she got rid of the boggart with the wolfsbane, and she did it before you posted about him.))
Gemeiac felt a thin line of sweat on her forehead. She toook steps very carefully and slowly. A light fog had encased the ground, and she couldn't reallly even see her shoes through the mist. She started cursing lightly. She kept on going, aware her backpack was probably ahead.

"what is going on?"Trase said noticing the random darkness. "maybe this means im close to my backpack."trase thought out loud
Lily blinked, staring into the arena that had gone dark. "you can do it!" Lily cried out to him "I believe in you Trase!"
Swaroop was in no hurry. He reached behind the mountain and began looking for patches of red and yellow. 'It has to be somewhere here' he said to himself and looked everywhere.

Gemeiac sqinted, knowing the need to get through this darkness. She could feel the back pack was there, in front of her somewhere. Well, somewhere near her. If it wasn't, she'd jst keep looking. Suddenly, bats started swooping in. "Stupid little mammals." she muttered, battuing over her head.
She almost tripped twice, but always caught her balance. She was blindly shoving branches out of the way, until she caught a hint of Yellow, and a flash of black. No, it was a glint of black and a flash of yellow. She widened her eyes, trying to make ou the shape. She sprinted over, and felt the object, trying to figure out what it was. She huffed. It was a backpack. Her backpack.

Gemeiac looked up, expecting to see something attack her. But she found darkness. The clouds seemed to linger over head, and they seemed to be frozen to the spot!
She frowned, and slung the backpack on her back. "Better get going..." she sprinted off in the directiong of where she came from. "Gotta hurry, gotta hurry..."

As soon as the competitor left the immediate are, the darkness vanished and the day lit up to a afternoon sunset.
Gemeiac breathed a sigh of relief. Now she was sure she was going the right way, daylight shining over-head. Almost there... she could tell, too. She could litterally hear the ground rumble beneath her feet the spectators were cheering so loud.
But not for her.
She was a Hufflepuff.
Someone who everyone looked down upon.
So why should they be cheering for her? She was the only girl who got in, anyways. She shook it off and kept on going. She wasn't panting when she arrived back at the centre. But of course, she knew she wasn't exactly a "joy to see". She bet they'd all hoped a boy would come first. Well, here she was. She slung the backpack higher on her shoulder, and looked at the crowd, still mady yelling their heads off.

Swaroop could hear cheers from the stadium. He knew others might have found their backpacks. That didn't stop his search. Searching,he reached the back entrance of the cave. Suddenly he saw something shining in Red.He looked closely,he could now see flashes of yellow too. A smile lit up his face.He started moving closer.
He could now see the backpack clearly,a few metres away. But suddenly there was a deafening noise behind him. There was a dragon behind him! He stopped and looked closely in dragon's eyes. The eyes were burning like fire.He was now stuck,he slowly started moving towards the backpack. To his horror, the dragon started following him.He was thinking why the dragon was following him,but soon he noticed that he was infact near the dragon's egg.The backpack was kept on the dragon's egg.He didn't know how to come out of this situation.
Walking away without the backpack will mean no clue for the next task, now that he was already late in achieving his first task.So he decided he will somehow get the backpack and run.He was in front of the egg now,the backpack just beside his hand.Slowly he got hold of the backpack.Suddenly the dragon sent a flame of fire out of its mouth in Swaroop's direction. He quickly jumped to his left and the fire hit the egg. There was a cracking sound from the edd.The dragon's attention diverted towards the egg.
This moment was enough for Swaroop to escape in the opposite direction,he ran as fast as possible when the dragon's eyes were fixed on the egg.
Finally Swaroop reached far from the cave,he could hear the crackling voice of the dragon. But now the voice was more pleasant,it was a voice of joy.He understood that the baby dragon was born.He was glad, but he had to run towards the stadium now.
With no wand and broom,Swaroop felt exhausted but he put all his effort and ran towards the stadium with the backpack. He could now hear the loud cheers. He reached the stadium and showed the Gryffindor backpack to everyone...!

The crowd was in uproar. Balls of flame streaked across the centre of the arena where the contestants had to dodge the fire balls until the siren went off, indicating the end of the game.

"Congratulations to the three champions who competed!" the voice boomed once more. "Slytherin has been disqualified because their champion has not participated in the first task. All judges are asked to PM me with the three competitors scores immediately, so they can be tallied. Champions, within your backpacks is a clue for what is to come in the second task. The second task begins on Saturday, May 12th. You will receive a message on Friday containing your clue for the upcoming task. Now, it is required that all champions visit the hospital wing for an evaluation of any injuries you may have sustained during the first task. Good luck, champions!"
Gemeiac forced a smiule, and sprinted off, no urge to waste time. She wanted to see what her clue was!
Lily leaped down and bounded over to Trase in cat form "Trase!" she cried out. "Nicely done on your first task"

A loud voice suddenly boomed throughout the stadium, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the first task of the Quad-Wizard Tournament. The four champions will enter the arena where they will be forbidden to use magic and will be completely unarmed, relying on their own physical force for protection against the magical creatures and other contestants that will be in the arena with them."
"The goal of the first task," the voice continued, "is for the four competitors to find a small backpack with their house colors on it. The backpacks are not hidden in the same location and could be anywhere in the arena, adding to the challenge of the task. Inside each backpack will be a clue for the next task. The clue may prove to be very helpful for the next task. If a competitor fails to retrieve his/her backpack, he/she will not have the advantage of a clue for the next task. Competitors may only take their house backpack from the arena, but may defend other houses' backpacks during the task."
"With the resources provided, competitors will spend one week surviving in the arena. Meanwhile, the event will be commentated (by me) to ensure that the task flows smoothly. Spectators, please remember to vote for your favorite champion here:
http://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/65...
I would like to wish our champions the best of luck. And now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!" the voice ended.
The four champions stood an even amount of space apart around the perimeter of the arena, awaiting the sound of the canon. Due to the elevated, hilly terrain, the champions were unable to see one another. All they could see was a central mountain and small, scrubby bushes. Little did they know that at the top of the mountain, hidden in a small cave, was a stash of food which could mean a matter of life or death. And then, of course, they would have to find their house backpack and pray that none of the other champions had stolen it. The gong rang out across the arena and the champions launched into action.
((Roleplay only please. Spectators are also welcome to Roleplay here as if they are siting in the stands. Thank you!))
