Emelie To bad it's only on Amazon (I'm on a Sony ereader and can only use epub) - it sounded interesting! But congrats on getting such a high rating! That's really good.

Ancestral Gaidheal (gaidheal) Emelie: Amazon allow you to download the Kindle app to any computer, so you can download all the free books that come up on Kindle.

Also, there is a Facebook group called Pagan Ebooks for Free that lists books on a daily basis should anyone be interested.

Really! Didn't know that. Though, I don't like to read on my computer. Maybe I'll make an exception... Thanks for the tips, anyway!

Download Calibre. A freeware e-book management tool, you can use it to convert formats too. Should do the trick.

Good to know!

Thanks for the offer, that's kind! I must say that I'm not so good at writing reviews, IF I even write a review for a book it usually is just a sentence or two, and I don't know when I will be able to read it. But if you still would dare send me one - then yes, that would be interesting.

The Golden Web ~ Three Magic Women by Nell Grey The Golden Web ~ Three Magic Women

As a child, Ellie heard the spirits speak and possessed a mystical connection to the earth, and an instinctive feeling for its magic and that of the gods and goddesses of our ancestors. But a single act of bloodless sacrifice, performed by the dim light of the new moon, alienates her parents and alters the course of her life.

The Golden Web and Three Magic Women are together the story of Ellie’s long quest to find some unbroken thread of belief from ancient times, a people with whom she feels at one, and to come to terms with the consequences of the practice of the Art Magick and the implications of the Witches’ Law: An’ it harm none, Do what ye will.

Here's the Amazon link.

Thanks for the (too too generous) free book, Nell. Of a pretty substantial page count... and with echoes of The Faerie Queene - I am devoted to that poem.

Bryn, the poem was an inspiration, and still is.

I released the first novel in my Gothic Fantasy series today! Yay! The Taint Sorrow's Child by Georgina Anne Taylor The Taint: Sorrow's Child I've set up a coupon code at smashwords to celebrate, making the book free for one week--now, until May 25th. The code is: RU28R. The link is: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...

The blurb:

'Sorrow’s Child', the first novel in 'The Taint' series, is a dark fairytale steeped in myth and magic. In a richly gothic setting, 'Sorrow’s Child' is a coming of age story and a tale of betrayal and bloody revenge.

On the Isle of Muin, one of the thirteen scattered Meda Isles, Lilith, a young orphan and an indentured servant, is found guilty of witchcraft and is condemned to hang...

The prologue:

"She sat in darkness.

Lost within a realm of perpetual night and enveloped by grief.

Her long hair flowed over her slender shoulders, sweeping the ground, her wraith-like form trembling as she wept bitter tears. Trickling down her cheeks and onto the rocks below, they formed a spreading lake that crept across the cavern floor.

Reason had long since faded, leaving only an inner tarn of sorrow. Too soon. Too young. Too soon.

Immersed in her long lament, she paid no heed as her womb slowly swelled. The birth spasms struck her unawares, the cavern resonating with her cries, as she expelled her newborn infant from her cold womb and into the dark depths of her sorrow’s tears…"

Feel free to use the code and to pass it on!

message 27: by Nell (new)

Nell Grey (nellgrey) | 1682 comments It is interesting - very much a Pagan approach to the places and history mentioned. I read the first chapter last night - it's about Sussex where I am, the last county in England to become Christian or to give up witchcraft, depending on how you look at it.

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 252 comments Dear heathens, pagans and other. My two are free for the month of July at Smashwords (ebooks in EPUB, MOBI for Kindle and other formats).

Historical fiction on the Mongols. I like to explore the religions of the times.

Amgalant One The Old Ideal by Bryn Hammond Amgalant One: The Old Ideal

Temujin comes into the world on the day the Mongols suffer a catastrophic defeat in battle. He isn't the hero type, but he has expectations to live up to, and he has a cause: freedom for his way of life, unity against China, where a nomad is an animal.

at Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...

Amgalant Two Tribal Brawls by Bryn Hammond Amgalant Two: Tribal Brawls

Shamans flew outside the self in ecstasy. Other people found love, or causes. Temujin has had to choose between love and his cause. As Tchingis Khan, he chose the latter. To his amazement his oath-brother marches to war upon him.

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 252 comments Jaq wrote: "Interesting subject matter, have you studied the Mongol religions of the time extensively?"

As much as possible to me, Jaq. I feel a shortage of adequate books out there, but isn't that always the way? (There's a few in French I'd bribe a translator for).

Amazon made Sorrow's Child, free sometime today. (I suspect it was this afternoon). I've had 330 downloads since then (and counting) and it's No 36 in the top 100 kindle, fantasy free titles. I know this is due to the fact that it is free, not a reflection on whether it's good or not--but hey, any excuse to feel good, gratefully accepted!

Anyway, it's a witchy book, steeped in myth. My lovely, troubled Lilith, makes her debut in this, my first novel. It is her 'backstory', before, or as, she becomes the kick ass woman she is destined to be. With a name like Lilith, she can't avoid it.
