Having Bill Joy recruit you to write the Java language spec pretty much says it all for Guy's expertise. He was certainly fortunate in early life to grow up bouncing between MIT and Harvard. I have never heard of anyone reading all issues of CACM before, another impressive feat. Finally, I totally agree with his comments on the troubles with trying to prove that programs are correct.

Aleksander Shtuk | 84 comments In this interview Guy Steele makes many interesting points and observations about programming language development. I think he is a good story teller. Also, the list of programming languages he has actually used looks impressive.
