Karina What did you guys think of the series so far?
Is it too similar to Matched?

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 373 comments It felt quite similar to Matched at the beginning, but then ended up having more layers. I liked it quite a bit better overall! I didn't like the ending though and I still thought they both could have made it over the fence, but others have told me that she needed the distraction in order to escape LOL I guess I just like happy endings. I definitely want to read Pandemonium though next!!

Karina I loved Matched but i prefer Delirium! I didn't like the ending much either, not because it was bad, I just always want happy endings even though i know they don't always happen! But I also knew that the series was just beginning so it didnt bother me too much that they both didn't make it.
Pandemonium was great in a lot of ways but there was one thing...or person, that annoyed me. i won't ruin it for you though :P
and loved the ending! :D

Thanks for not spoiling! I'll hopefully get to it in the next month or so :)

Karina You are welcome!
In the beginning you might get an idea of what will happen but trust me its still really good so don't give up on it!

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 373 comments I won't!!

Nicole Sanglay (speckintheuniverse) I haven't read Matched yet, but I absolutely loved Delirium! I loved the tragic ending! And Delirium was so beautifully written. Lauren Oliver is so good in describing things and she also adds these poetic touches to her imagery. The only thing I don't like in her books is that they're slow-paced. And I prefer Delirium over Pandemonium.

@Karina - I loved the person who annoyed you in Pandemonium. :D

Nidhi Thomas (nidhithomas) | 650 comments Delirium <3 So much love for this book! And Alex and Lena forever! I mean FOREVER!

Karina Nidhi your prediction could be a possibility but I hope you are dead wrong! I don't think Oliver would do that to us D:

oh it was sad in Pandemonium when(view spoiler)

Nicole Sanglay (speckintheuniverse) Yes it was sad :( Have you read Before I Fall?

Karina Yes I have! I wanted to give u on it because I didn't like the main character but I'm glad i finished it. The ending was sad but I liked it.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 373 comments Nicole wrote: "Yes it was sad :( Have you read Before I Fall?"

Have heard good things, really want to read that one :)

Nicole Sanglay (speckintheuniverse) @Karina - I'm really hoping I won't read an ending as sad as that in Requiem!

@David - It's kinda hard to get into it at first. But it gets better. It's an original, poignant story.

Karina -_- Nicole..seriously. you just had to put that possibility in my head. Haha I hope not! :P

Cool, sounds good! For me, original goes a long way :) Plus, I'm a pretty easy-to-please reader

I tried reading this book but just couldn't get into it so I gave up. I might reread it.

It was a bit boring at first, because it's slow-paced. Lauren Oliver really took pains to establish Lena's world.

So many people say that Delirium is like the Uglies only about love. Does anyone agree or disagree?

I never heard it was like Matched!

Morgan (morgzsydney) | 43 comments I personally prefer Delirium to Matched, and Pandemonium(2nd delirium book) is even better than the first!

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 373 comments Morgan wrote: "I personally prefer Delirium to Matched, and Pandemonium(2nd delirium book) is even better than the first!"

Ooh good, I can't wait to read it :)

Haha and I've never heard it being compared to Uglies, but now that you mention it I can kinda see some similarities.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 373 comments INteresting, I haven't read the Uglies, any good?

Karina It was recommended to me by a friend who demanded I read it. I read the first book about 2 or 3 years ago and really enjoyed it but never finished the series because i got caught up in a bunch of other ones. And last year i finally got around to reafing the other two because I couldn't stop wondering how things wre going to end! I think you should definitely give it a try!

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 373 comments Cool, I will :)

My library never has delirium so I'll have to request it. I started it when it wasn't popular and they used to have it every time

I want to read it!

Karina I find it interesting that in their society Love is a disease that needs a cure. Especially since in our society its the one thing most people want and spend their lives finding, while others don't even believe it exist at all. And i understand the reason they view it as a disease but is Love really that horrible that you would need a cure? they are all waiting for the day when they get cured, afraid to get contaminated, but getting cured (view spoiler)

Nicole Sanglay (speckintheuniverse) Yup, it really was a unique take on love. I've never imagined a dystopian society like that.

Karina Me either. When I first read about it I thought to myself "how can love be disease" and it wasn't until I read it that I understood why they would believe that. I don't think i would ever want a cure for it, even if love does led to heartbreak in most cases.

Nicole Sanglay (speckintheuniverse) At first, I thought it was corny. But I got used to the concept and I realized that it was actually cool. Me, too, I'd never want a cure for it. But the quotes from the Book of Shhh and such were really amusing! I really liked this one:

Mama, Mama, help me get home
I'm out in the woods, I am out on my own
I found me a werewolf, a nasty old mutt
It showed me its teeth and went straight for my gut

Mama, Mama, help me get home
I'm out in the woods, I am out on my own
I was stopped by a vampire, a rotting old wreck
It showed me its teeth and went straight for my neck

Mama, Mama, put me to bed
I won't make it home, I'm already half-dead
I met an Invalid, and fell for his art
He showed me his smile, and went straight for my heart
