where many work,the fief of Lucy Black,rangers commandment,and at the moment her sister who is in need of a mentor

Roan stood in the shadows of a corner outside the kitchen. He knew he should get going and find Lucy but he was hungry. he debated for a bit more but finally decided to go. Arriving late for Lucy was not a fun experience

Lucy tapped the quill on the desk impatiently filling out yet another form,her foot tapping"Livi,go fetch Roan,if he is late again,i tell you...."she growled,glancing up at the tiny half hidden girl"ok Lou"she said hurrying down the stairs of the tower,almost colliding with Roan"Lucy wants you"she said softly,turning and hurrying back

"aw shoot am i late" he hurried up and entered the room he went to stand in front of the desk

Lucy was pacing in front,then whipper around,green eyes blazing"your late"she growled

Livi sat in the back,silent

"sorry" he said knowing she wouldnt listen to excuses "i guess i just lost track of time"

she scowled"c'mon,must go out for your punishment"she growled,grinning

Livi stood,knowing she would have to go as well

"yeah yeah i know what do i have to do this time"

"get down,you are crawling from here to all the way over tttthhhhheeeeerrreeeee"she said pointing to a tree a good mile away"if me or livi see a rear,we shoot,understood?"she said both stringing their bows

"hmph not as bad as last time" he said with a grin looking at the tree "a mile huh you sure your arrows can reach that far" he teased "well might as well start" he got down and started crawling after a while he reached the tree touched it and came running back

both shot at him,one going only millimeters from his face,and another right in front of his foot on his way back"again"she commanded"and you will crawl back as well

"you never said that the first time" he grumbled but did as told once he got back "can i please go get food ill even feed copper and the horses once i get back, im really hungry i didnt get to eat lunch because of that wonderful training you assigned me earlier"

she grinned under her cowl"nope,eat when the rest of us do,now stand up,get that bow out,you will practice till 8,4 hours should do you some good,by the time its over you might have reached mediocre"she said

"i thought i reached mediocre last week" Roan picked up his bow and quiver started walking towards the forest then turned around "livi you want to come?" he asked

she shrugged,but the silent girl nodded all the same

Lucy nodded and sat down,watching her sister unsling her bow and fire

roan emptied his quiver then went to retrieve his arrows. every one had hit where he was aiming for. he looked up at the sky this was going to be a looong four hours

livi continued shooting,her shooting was not only consistent but also accurate

Lucy watched

Livi leaned against her bow"we are done,dinners on the table"she called,running back to the castle

"yes!" roan sprinted and shot past livi into the castle dodging servents on his way to the table

Livi rolled her eyes,following swiftly and silently,taking her place next to Lucy,who sat right hand of the king,his children near him,but the 3 rangers always sat there,with Roan on the other side of him

roan calmed down in front of the king acting like a ranger should. once the king started eating so did he. it was a quiet meal he didnt know anything to say so he kept silent like he normally did in front of people other than livi and lucy

Livi ate in complete and utter silence,Lucy making quiet conversation with the king

once he was done eating roan caught livi's eye and made a slight motion wordlessly asking if she wanted to sneak out

she grinned,almost instantly disappearing from her spot

roan slipped from his seat and melted into the shadows then left the room wanting to get out of the castle and into the forest

Livi waited,hanging awkwardly in the tops of several trees

roan reached the forest and looked around. he saw livi and laughed. he climbed up into the trees. "so" he grinned "how was your day, i didnt really get to see you much today what did lucy have you do"

she shrugged"usual chores,cleaning,cooking,few laps,gather firewood,etc"she said softly

"yeah i was pretty much out working with my bow and knives all day"

she nodded"seems normal"she said simply

"everythings been normal lately no exitement. i suppose its a good thing but its just been a bit boring"

Lucy burst through the doors of the castle,obviously pissed"YOU TWO!"she roared,plucking them out of the tree like nobodies business

"yes?" roan said while getting up

she side slapped both of them,Livi taking it with only a slight 'ooofff' escaping her tight lips"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!IM PRETTY SURE YOU HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT THE KINGS ANNOUNCEMENT!AND IF YOU DID,THEN WHY THE BLOODY ELL DID YOU RUN OFF LIKE A BUNCH OF BABOONS!?!?!?!?!"she scolded

roan knew he shouldnt talk back but he couldnt contain himself "i dont see whats wrong with us leaving we finished and we wernt needed if the king made some super important anouncment then you could just tell us later"

she went an even darker shade of red,if that was possible,and side slapped him again as hard as possible"if you were there then you would know we have to go fight for another country,NOW"she snapped

roan stumbled back from the second hit. He regained his balance then said "who? which country"

she scowled"read a history book"she growled,disappearing back towards the castle

Livi froze"Temujai...."

once lucy left he sighed "thats what three times this week that I've made her mad, and its tuesday" he then heard livi say something "temujai? them. wonderful. wait but she said fight for a country are you saying we are going to fight with them?"

"no,im saying,our best bet is that history is repeating itself,i think we are fighting for skandia,against the temujai"she said softly

"that makes more sense but if history is repeating itself and since the temujai have fought rangers before they are going to have an adantage this time around"

she nodded grimly

"but then again we also have experience" roan said pacing "that just means we need to have better tactics"

"and if they know our tactics?they know how we think now"she said in monotone

roan frowned "then, then we have to think smarter and shoot faster, we cant let them win"

"that requires a Halt or a Will,sadly we have neither,non of us have any experience,and those who do are dead"she said

Roan sighed "True, but we have to try at least"

she shrugged"true"

"When do you think we leave?" he asked
