We are so excited to launch our very own book club and can't thank you enough for coming to support it! We hope this will be a great place for book lovers and ISF supporters to come together and share their favorite characters and stories.

We also need to send a special thank you out to Kim Falconer our amazing first author. We hope everyone is as excited for your book as we are. Your support of ISF is amazing. We love you Kim!

So welcome everyone and time to get reading :)

I've been a huge fan of Kim's work since first reading Rosette back in 2009 - and anything she supports has my vote, too. Congratulations on a fab initiative, let's get this party started :-D

Teresa | 8 comments Haven't read this author....so many books so little time!!!!!! But I love reading. As an interesting side note: When I was in first grade I had a learning disability. I read and wrote backwards. They didn't have a name for it back then as far as I am aware. My parents were told that I'd never be able to read or write beyond the forth grade level and they shouldn't expect much from me. During the summer between fifth and sixth grade I decided that I was going to prove them wrong. My older sister was reading the Nancy Drew series of books. So, I decided that I would read them too. At first I didn't understand them at all but gradually as I forced myself to read them I got better and better at it. My parents thought it was CUTE...that I was imitating my older sister. It never occurred to them that I might actually be reading and understanding the books. When I returned to school in the Fall and they tested me they found that over the summer I had gone from reading on the third grade level to reading on the twelfth grade level. When I got home from school I told my parents that I didn't have to take special reading class any more. They were sure a mistake had been made. My mom called the school and they confirmed that there was no mistake and that I was reading on the twelfth grade level. My dad went into his bedroom and got his old Bible that was written in Old English and opened it up and had me read it to him and I was able to. I've loved reading ever since.

I love Kim's books - read them all in record time and count myself so lucky to know her. I think the last time I was in a bookclub was in school! Can't wait to get going in here :)

message 29: by Barnyard (new)

Barnyard ISF (barnyardisf) | 121 comments Yesterday I decided to make myself sit down & graze the horses while reading a new book. I used to take goats on a "goat walk" & have them eat brush while I read. Figured it is like paying myself minimum wage figuring on how much hay costs. The horses can help eat down the grass instead of having to weedwack around the pond & I can actually sit peacefully in the sun & take a breather with a good book & clear my head. Then here you are ISF on twitter with a BOOK CLUB! Yay! I love this family ;)

message 30: by Kim (new)

Shawn (shawnwilder) | 6 comments Hello IS_F Book Club! Chewing on great ideas and challenging ourselves to find new ways to help our planet, through an amazing reading community!!!! What could be better? I have read all six books in the 'Quantums Enchantment/Encryption' series, adore my big Sister, Kim, inhale SFF like a whacked-out junkie, and hope to co-generate some new cool ideas about the dawning Age of the Ecological Self. Oh and I get to make Kim's book trailers...

It's a good question! Fishpond.com is a member of this group (check f's and see the bright green fish) so . . .

1) click on 'members' so you can see them all
2) scroll to Fishpond.com
3) click them
4) add as friend
5) read message with promo code

Thanks for asking!

Astrid Cooper (goodreadsastridcooper) | 48 comments Hi,
Kim invited me to this book club. We met via "serendipity" some years ago when I interviewed her for her first book "Path of the Stray". I was immersed into this book from page one and was both provoked and challenged and enchanted by her writing, story and characters, with the quantum/Gaea philosophy. When I read the philosophy behind the foundation I thought ... finally, I've found others who share my world view and belief that if change is to occur it must be done by people, not left to government initiatives (!) (if we waited for them, nothing would happen. ) I've been rescuing animals for 20 years, plus writing about sentience, environment, meaning of life, etc., for years; my romantic fiction reflects these fundamental concerns/interests (sometimes I used to think I was the "only one"). Not any more - thanks to Kim and the foundation. Best wishes Astrid Cooper. (there are other Astrids on the net... this one is me: www.astridcooper.com -- not intentding this to be any form of promo, just an identifier).

Kim Falconer (kimfalconer) | 297 comments Hello Everyone! I love how we are growing this community!

I'm wondering if there is a way to 'sticky' the welcome thread to the top, so as things expand, new people are always greeted, even if oodles of posts are active.

I shall search help, but tell me if you know the trick!
