Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ ROMAN!!!!! WOO!!!!

message 5: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) !! Its kinda hard because some people think its wrong for me to believe purgatory or praying the rosary or listening to the pope.

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ ?????????????

message 7: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) yes. just stating a fact about the difficulty of being Catholic

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ I think its hard cause the Johova Witness's get mad at us when we put a sighn on our door "ROMAN CATHOLIC".

message 9: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) yes. and everyone thinks we shouldn't follow the pope

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ Yes, we got a new bishop in my distirct.

message 11: by (Aero)driguez (new)

message 17: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) cool

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ Yes, it si sad our old bishop died of lung cancer, after years of smoking, weird.

message 19: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) ik. So, the area where we live is narrowed down now

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ Ummmmm......huh?????

message 21: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) k while we both said we live in the Frenso Diocese. which is a pretty narrow area

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ *shrugs* Okay.

message 23: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) yes. soooo.....

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ I got to go.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

I hate how people make fun of us just because we're all religious and aren't very modernized. Just cuz we like it old don't mean we gotta be persecuted!

And all these people think we idolize because of saints. They're just like prophets! What's wrong?????

message 26: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) we don't idolize sanits, we pray to them and 'pray' originaly meant 'to ask' and were asking the saints to pray to us

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ Yes, Idolize is a strong word.

message 28: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) which Catholics dont do(torwards sanits at least)

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

That's what I was saying. I wonder what puts those thoughts into people's heads? Everyone likes peace, but I guess some people just aren't happy unless they have something to dislike..... hmmm....

message 30: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) I think its because every religion started from Catholicism, so they have to find some fault to prove leaving was right

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ Maybe.....

message 32: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) Also, does anyone have a problem with people not believing in purgatory

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ No, thank God for purgatory!!!

message 34: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) I'm pretty much the only Cathloic in my group of friends

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ Not me. I go to a catholic school.

message 36: by (Aero)driguez (new)

(Aero)driguez (aerodriguez) Thats awesome! everyone (for the most part) must have close or the same beliefs

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ Yep, it is pretty cool, but, we have to ware hot uniforms. ;P

message 38: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I don't really know what purgatory means

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ It means, that if you sinned a veinial sin before you died and didn't have confession, before you go to Heaven, you have to confess it to God, at least that is what I learned.

message 40: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh. What about that whole if you are a baby but haven't been baptized you don't go to heaven you go to purgatory? Isn't it a place of nothingness forever?

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ No, no, no, no. Ummmm......wait....I don't know. I think because the baby....I am not sure.

message 42: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I always have heard something to that effect and I know you should never not believe in something just because you don't like it but I don't see why I should believe in something that sounds so cruel. I'm a weird Catholic...

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ Me too.

message 44: by Adriana (new)

Adriana You're a weird Catholic too? (:
Or you don't believe in anything that sees God in a cruel light?

message 45: by Valencia (new)

Valencia (empowered) I'm not Catholic, but I can comment on the baptism part. A lot of people either agree or disagree that baptism is needed for salvation. In the OT before baptism all that was require to be saved was believing in God. If you read in the NT especially in parts where it talks about John the Baptist that he preached the baptism of repentance. Also, in some of Jesus's teachings he tells people to believe and be baptized. He also talks about that the people with be baptized with the Holy Ghost. After Jesus was resurrected, Simon (I do believe it was him) was told by God to stay where he was because in a few days the God will baptize the world with Holy Ghost (not a direct quotation). He was summoned to someone's house (Cornelius I think) and there he talked to a group of people and told them of Jesus, His sacrifice, and His resurrection. While he spoke the people believed (which = salvation. The crowd was a mix of non believers and believers and those who had been baptized and not been baptised) and something like a sheet desended from the Heavens and everyone there recieved the Holy Ghost. Afterwards, Simon had all those who had not been baptized get baptized because he saw that God favored them also. Also, you can see that no one (well no character that I've come across) had recieved the Holy Ghost in the OT. So it my personal perfessional opinion that you are saved through belief and the you recieve the Holy Ghost (and some spiritual gifts) through baptism and that you must believe in God and repent before you get baptized.

Sorry this is a really long post!!! I didn't even add scriptures, but I'll give them to you if you want them!!

message 46: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I don't think baptism guarantees you anything. You can be baptized and do horrible things and if you aren't baptized you can still be a great person. Just because you aren't baptized or if you don't believe in God doesn't mean God won't accept you into his kingdom. With a baby.. they're innocent so I was saying that I don't believe in purgatory because I feel God would accept them no matter what.

That was an awesome post btw (:

message 47: by Valencia (new)

Valencia (empowered) That true. It still comes down to what you choose. I think baptism makes you more susptable to God's use once we do decide to walk in His ways. I really don't know about purgatory, it's history, or what the bible says about it. I don't even know about children who die young because I haven't seen anything in the bible about that either. Honestly we don't know what happens to anybody when they die because we don't know everything they've done in their life and we don't know about their walk with God. All I can say is live in a way so that you will be able to stand face to face with God and ask Him :)

Lucy ~Graphite Wizard~ I had a forth grade teacher who used to be Baptist.

Exactly (:
Baptism is a something to get closer to God with.

I had a friend who was Baptist but I don't really know what they believe in. I know they go out and preach though.
