Ohhhh mafia! Thank goodness I opened the notification :p I really, really like mafia/yakuza stories plus you highly recommend it! Thank you =)

I am anxious to hear what you thought of the ending.
thanks for the recommendation. Now I have another book added to my TBR list :D I swear it grows daily lolz
Well I'm only 25% in its a really long book but I'm loving it so much the story deals with modern day slavery and the suffering she has been through is so heartbreaking but she is so strong and resilient and you just all have to read it !!
I just finished this. Had to read it since you and Erin recommended it so highly. All I can say is wow. I cried several times during this book and it sounds almost wrong to say I loved it. The writing, the characters, the plot..everything was exceptional.
Yeah the subject matter aside I really love this book and everything about it is exceptional you are so right Jen!!
I read it when it was a twilight fanficion (then titled Emancipation Proclamation), and I remember really liking it then.
Yeah my sister read it as a twilight fan fiction too and she was the one who told me about it !! I'm so in love with this book...it's amazing!! I really feel for the characters and the story is so captivating
Really? As in the vampire story Twilight? I can't see that..hmm. Way better as a Mafia idea I think. Introducing paranormal elements IMHO would just clutter up the story.
I really like the fact that this is not a cliffhanger and ending right as a major event happens and having to wait a year for the next installment. I think the author could write more about everyone in the story but it is great as a standalone book.

Yep it's a realistic fan fiction using Edward and Bella as the main characters so no paranormal here lol just basing the story on the characters in Twilight it's rely good hey??

I'll have to go look for it. I enjoyed the writing so much I want more!Heinzypop wrote: "Yep it's a realistic fan fiction using Edward and Bella as the main characters so no paranormal here lol just basing the story on the characters in Twilight it's rely good hey?? "
SO sad. I went to the authors blog and there's a link to this site which shows incidences of Human slavery here in the states!http://www.slaverymap.org/
Yeah, the fanficion had no paranormal elements, it was all human. But it had just about everybody; Edward, Bella, Jasper, etc. (Carlisle was a BAD guy!), the Volturi (Aro, Alec, Jane), and the werewolves, Jacob and Paul.
:( weird they sell them on Amazon and I think the paperback version...maybe contact the author to find out if you can get it from her and let her know
The twilight fanfic version? I thought that being fanfiction was free on fan sites to read. I'll check Amazon and see.Heinzypop wrote: ":( weird they sell them on Amazon and I think the paperback version...maybe contact the author to find out if you can get it from her and let her know"
Nope. Just checked for the Twilight version and no go. Just the regular mafia one that was published. I bought that one from Amazon when it was recommended to me. I just wanted to compare the two.
Yeah they take them down once they publish their own it would be exactly the same except the names are changed that's it my sister has read the entire fan fic include book 2
Oh, this story is so unforgettable, and the message it sends is one that needs to be shared!! Thank you so much for starting this thread, Sylv!! I'm just dying to spread this one around our group (okay, and beyond), it's deserving of far more credit than it's gotten so far. Check it out, everyone, and spread the word if you enjoy it as much as we do!!!
Ahhh, you people got to me. I added it! I have 50 million books on my to-read list, but no! I gotta read this one cuz you all make it sound so awesome :)
Oh Julie i have got so many to read but had to squeeze this one in you must read it :) it really is a rare gem indeed
Heinzypop wrote: "Oh Erin I've read 70% of the book and am scared to read on :( but I have to know what happens"
Oh, don't be scared, it's not really a cliffhanger. It's not settled, but it doesn't leave you bawling your eyes out! lol

oh that's good to know that the published Sempre is exactly the same as the fabric except names. Now I can stop searching for a copy.I don't consider the ending a cliffhanger at all.It could easily be a standalone. For those of you wondering who haven't read it yet. I am glad to hear there will be another book tho.
Such a powerful and moving book.
Lol, you can have a ridiculous amount of books to read on your TBR list, but there's always room for more. :)

I agree; kind of leaves you wanting to see how things will go in the future, but doesn't leave you feeling like there's just an abrupt end.

It's up Adriana...I am floored by this book I really don't know what else to say it's taken my breath away and everyone needs to read it!! Here's my review

I remember that when it was a fanficion, it went pretty heavy on the love scenes. Is it like that in the real book?@Heinzypop: I love your review!
Awesome review Heinzy!!!It will definitely make people take notice of this undiscovered gem. SUCH a great book.
Thanks Rebecca and Jen I was totally blown away with this book it really has stolen my heart only another book has done that
so it's been a very long time LOL but yeah the love scenes were tender and there really only ever were a couple so I guess she toned them down for publishing not sure why but it was perfect though it was more about love and tenderness than sex if that makes sense :)

I enjoy that it was more into being tender than actual sex. It made me love Carmine even more knowing that he'd been with a lot of other girls but for his hummingbird it was about love rather than sex.
Yeah me too Jen it's the reason that made me love him even more...*sigh* I really don't know how I'm going to wait for the sequel I'm desperate for it...I really do hope they get the life they won't and away from the mafia ... they totally deserve it!!
Oh, I see. Some authors choose to do that when publishing, I suppose. The fanfic world is different from the book world, lol. ;)

Oh, their first time was THE most romantic love scene, I have reread that like ten times I loved it so much!!! *swooning*
