A thing thats bothers me a lot is when a story/books are drawn out. It makes me feel like I've wasted my time likeing these characters since at the end I no longer care. Discuss!

MizziQ Sometimes I think it might be like the authors don't want to end the story--for me I'm always ending the story too soon. But yha, if something goes on and on, no matter how much I love the characters, it's pretty boring.

I think a lot of it depends on what kind of reader you are, and what authors you like. In a way you can sometimes 'genre-cast an author because he or she seems to write in a certain genre. Indeed, I think all writers are like that, as far as I know, there aren't many, if any authors that can straddle two genres of more unless they are related.

I find I like to insert anecdotes and backstory when writing the main plot. I feel it gives a little insight into the character head, but there needs to be a plot, otherwise even the most articulate author can flounder about and look stoopid:p
