Slow Starter?

Andrew Herren I just finished this book today and absolutely loved it. I admit that it was hard to follow from the start and I almost put it down before the 80 pages that is my minimum "good try". After 100 I couldn't put it down! I read the reviews on Amazon (3 stars) and most of the bad ones were by readers that never finished the book. It made me wonder how many pages does everyone else consider a "good try"?

Andrew Herren Looks like I was the only fan of this one!

Wizzfizz No Andrew, I loved it too, as did many others (check out the reviews here on GoodReads). I must say I almost gave up too but I really wanted to persevere. The turning point for me was the introduction of Joleb's family. After that I was hooked!

Andrew Herren I know this sounds crazy but I just realized that you typed in the book at the top and it gave you member reviews! Thanks.

Wizzfizz No problem!

Cindy Must say I'm up to page 91 and I'm really forcing myself to keep persevering with it ..... mainly because so many people have had to same problem with the slow start and have said its so worthwhile in the end !

Cindy you are right at the point where it turned for me! Hang on if you can.

Will do Andrew ... thanks :-)

Cindy After 237 pages I've put this book away. I remember that reading should be a pleasure and this book hasn't given me any. Will move onto something more entertaining :-)

Andrew Herren I agree! I have about three "started" right now that I just can't get going with. Sometimes you have to punt!

Jodie So slow, I have yet to finish it :(

Linda Templeton I enjoyed this book although as you know it was a slow starter.

Afrocentrical Wow...I thought I was the only one. I tried reading it and put it down for maybe two years. Out of boredom, I picked it back up, determined to finish and I'm glad I did. I loved it.

Melinda Clayton I know I'm very late to the party, but I came to Goodreads to check out the reviews of this book after deciding this morning that I just couldn't continue with it. Glad I found this discussion, because it's encouraged me to keep trying. I'm on page 73 and will keep plugging along - for now, at least!
