Rachael (rachaelt) | 1842 comments Caleb brushed his fingers along the wild tangles of brush and leaves as he made his way deeper into the center of the quiet meadow. He carefully placed his large bag down on a ledge as he hopped up himself. He crossed his legs and opened his bag, letting him free. That part of him drifted into the forest while the rest remained sitting there on the grassy ledge. He zoned out staring out at the wind blowing currents of air against the grass in front of him. He sat there in peaceful meditation. Bliss. It had been a long journey. On foot. He had came to this school to settle down. It was perfect it seemed. Quiet. Isolated. No one to particularly pay much attention to him. His research had led him to this place as the perfect place to be around others without particularly having others be in his life. Or he in theirs. Caleb missed human interaction as petty as it is. He smirked as he reminisced. It was petty of him. Vary risky too. It had been over 20 years since he had settled down. He had been scaling all parts of the world on the move without stopping to look back. Like a 20 year marathon. He looked down at his tanned arm. His most recent public appearance was India but as nothing but a lonely vagabond. Then he had switched to more isolated desert areas. He had decided that settling down for a little while here was acceptable. Might as well. From what he understood this site was a place in which others were forced to come. A place where the rejects of society were all sent. Were sent to this place because they could not blend in to others in society. He completely disregarded the type of people who were sent here and the charges against them. It looked good to him. They had been sent here for doing their own thing. He came here to do his own thing. Independent people who take initiative is what he saw. The initiative to do what they want. They would keep to what they wanted so he would be left alone.
At least that is how he had justified himself in wishing to settle down. He justified that need by using this place as an excuse.
But it was really because he was petty. And he wanted to be around people.

Rachael (rachaelt) | 1842 comments Sophie watched the boy enter the meadow from a distance. She stood there unmovingly as he entered. Too still to trigger notice. Her hand resting lightly on the aged stone railing. She watched him sit down with curiosity. This was the first human she had seen since her arrival at the school. But it wasn't as if she was particularly looking for any. She closed in silently looking for a better look.
He had his eyes closed, a calm perplexed expression on his face. The details were becoming clearer as she grew closer. His clothes were tired. They were wearing down in some areas despite their unusual thick sturdy material. His hair was ruffled carelessly and styled with nothing but dried sweat. Around him lay his oversized duffel bag with a sleeping bag latched on to it. Is he a student here? she questioned herself taking in the scene. Doubt rose. He didn't look like he was staying here. He in fact looked like he was already packed to run, to go on another trip. She continued to advance from behind him.
His head popped up. His crystal blue eyes piercing. In momentary shock she darted for cover. She pressed her back against stone. She panted. Worried. He shouldn't have been able to sense her nearing. Was she paranoid? No human could possibly....
Caleb stared over to his right. There was nothing there. But why did he feel as if.... he squinted. He hopped down from the ledge. Cautiously he walked over towhere he thought he saw...
Sophie felt him come closer to her. She heard his heartbeat. Human. It must be. She almost sighed at her stupidity and doubt.
"Who's there?" Caleb called out blindly. "I know you're there." He gambled. At least he would be only a fool to himself if it turned out he was alone. No answer came. "Enoch?" he questioned.
Sophie turned her head to the right from where the voice came. Confused. Then came growling. She snapped her head back to the left. A dog? Growling at her, it advanced. "Shoo!" she motioned. The dog continued. "Who are you? And why were you sneaking up on me?" Caleb said standing over her on the right. He had a knife pointed down at her. She smirked when she saw the knife. Dumb human she thought to herself. Caleb glared at her smile. He jerked the knife at her again and repeated. "What is your business here?" Her smile grew even wider. She stood up and brushed herself off. "Oh please." She began to walk away.
Now noticing the little effect the knife had on her Caleb abandoned the thing. He grabed her elbow as she turned and slammed her again against the stone ruin. "Who are you?" he said aggressively.
Sophie's head cracked against the stone. The force was stronger than she expected. Caleb held her by the throat against the wall. Now she was pissed. She grabbed his arm and squeezed. Quickly breaking his wrist. Then pushed him down. He had taken her with him. They tumbled down the grass.
Both in shock yet not admitting it. Their strength unmatched now found a rival. Sophie straddled him and held both his hands down. He panted. The dog, Enoch came closer with bared teeth. "No!" he commanded him. He then took that momentary disteaction to topple Sophie until she was the underdog.
"What are you!?" she finally shouted breaking the unspoken question. She didn't ask who are you but rather WHAT. She stopped struggling and panted looking up at him. He cautiously relaxed his hands and began to release her. But not before she flipped him over once again this time her one top. He didn't try to fight. He just stared up at her. She slammed his hands back on the ground. "What are you!?" she repeated over him.

Rachael (rachaelt) | 1842 comments "You don't answer my questions but you expect me to answer yours? That's a little hypocritical" he said calmly he looked up at the dog sitting patiently ahead of them both. Ready to pounce. He smiled at him and the dog relaxed. Sophie watched angrily at the exchange. "Hmph," he sighed. "You mind releasing me?" he asked causally. "Not until you answer me." she demanded. "I don't need to answer anything." he retorted. "You obviously aren't human, what are you?" She continued to demand. "No, what are you?" he answered peacefully. Sophie didn't answer. "You are a very hypocritical person. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge people." he continued. Sophie pouted unwillingly. "As much fun as it is to have you straddling on top of me, I'd much rather it be under other circumstances." he smiled. Sophie rolled her eyes then rolled off him. She stood waiting for him to stand up with her arms crossed.
Caleb slowly stood up. "Caleb" he reached out his hand. She didn't take. "Well whoever you are, with bad manners, maybe I'll tell you more another day." he began to walk away. "Do you go here?" she managed to get out as he packed his bag. He turned back and winked as he entered the forest back to school.

Rachael (rachaelt) | 1842 comments She waved as he left. Once gone she smiled. She had absorbed something from him. She didn't know what though and she frowned. She didn't know what he could do so she couldn't act on this power she had received. She had let him go easy, she could have killed him easily. Or even defeat him faster. Thing was, it had been awhile since she actually got to go full out with someone. Using her powers completely would of gotten rid of that opportunity.
