'Cause guess what's amazingly awesome? Guess what's intriguing, unique, full of high action, descriptive, and, well, fantastic in general!
Chapter 2: Freedom or Death in Trash City When I got there, first thing I noticed was the trash everywhere. Everywhere you look, there was some piece of junk. The trash ranged from toilet lids to banged up trash cans. “Welcome to Trash City.” said a man wearing a ripped leather jacket. I did a double take. That guy hadn't been there a few seconds ago! What was going on? The guy noticed me staring. “What?” “Oh, nothing.” I said, snapping my gaze away. “Well, anyway,” He continued. “Bye.” “OK,” I said uncertainly. The guy saw my nervousness. “Well, don't stay there!” He snapped. “ Don't want to hang around here for long.” “Why is that?' “Cause them government'll arrest you, that's why!” “Then where do I go?” I asked, frustrated. “Over here in this alley with me.” Suddenly, police sirens sounded. “Hurry!” he urged me. I made the decision and ran over to the alley. It was muddy and dark with trash in the dirty water. The guy stood behind me, casting a shadow over the alley. “There's a choice you have: stay keep your head down and try to live a normal life or you can run to the rebels in the mountains.” “There is a third option, you know.” I interjected. “Yes, there is another one. You can hide, run to rebels, or get arrested.” “Wait just a second, the rebels do exist?” I did a double check. “Yes, there are rebels out there,” he snapped. “Make your choice before they find us!” My thoughts moved at the speed of light. What should I do? It was hide or run. I made my decision. “OK, can you show me to the nearest exit out of here?” “You're running?” He grunted. “Yeah, so what!” I shot back. “Okay kid, go up to Dirt Rd. Then turn down.” “How can I turn down?!” I said. “Not my problem kid.” Suddenly I noticed something: the sirens had gotten much louder and closer. A pack of cop cars raced into the alley. “Stop with your hands up!” shouted a police bot as the robots got out of the cars. “Run, kid!” The man shouted as he shoved me into the ground. He hit the ground beside me. A second later, the cop bots opened fire. Knock-out darts were everywhere, flying off the wall. It was a miracle that none of them hit us. I got up blinking sand out of my eyes. The man had disappeared in the few seconds I was down. What the heck happened to him!? “Oh crap.” One of the cops whispered. I guessed that hadn't been put in their programing. “That was supposed to hit her! What the heck is she!?” His partner answered. “They told us she was a freak.” Something snapped. I was tired of people who didn't tell me anything and people who called me a freak. I began to change, the second time this day. “Die you, fools!” I roared. This time, I did have some memory of what happened. There were crashes, and darts flew everywhere. A cop did say, “Why aren't the darts getting through!? Oh Gosh, nooooo!” Then all went from red to black. When I regained consciousness, there was a mash of parts that had once been cars and bots. I crawled into the alley and fell into an exhausted sleep.

It all started on the morning of the last day of school. I was dreaming a dream I had dreamed very often lately. I was flying above the clouds, my mom next to me. When I looked over, her head was a reptile's head! I was twisting to get away from her grasping claws, when the sky started beeping. I woke up, grasping to shut off the alarm. I was all tangled up in my blankets! I shook myself free and I went to grimace at my reflection. My reflection glared back. It had red hair with yellow and orange streaks, hazel eyes, a peeling nose, and sunburned skin. I scrubbed my face and then went into the neat, orderly closet to search for Sharpe-wood's Academy uniform. It was a white jumpsuit, similar to a prisoner's jumpsuit. I put it on and then headed downstairs to breakfast. Sliding down the stairs, I made my way to the breakfast table. Nan-Bot, a type of robot that was made to take care of a young child, had always taken care of me, so it knew all my favorites. Still, even with the bacon in my mouth delivering delicious taste, I felt a sense of foreboding. I quickly dispelled the thought as Mr. and Mrs. Sharpe walked in. Mrs. and Mr. Sharpe were my adoptive parents, but they had gone to work hours ago. So how they were there, you ask? They were using the latest technology to be here: holograms. “Seriously, how much are you allowed to use the holograms per week?” Mr. Sharpe chose to ignore my question and barked, “What are YOU still doing here!!! Get to school right away, Llewellyn!” “Yes, sir!” I replied. “ On the double!” I scurried to the front door with my backpack and left right away. Maybe I'm a wimp, but didn't want to face Mr. Sharpe today. I walked to school and felt excited. At last, the dreaded school year would end! The school building was in sight when I quickened my walk. I could see the dreary, concrete, gray building after walking for an half hour. At this point, the excitement of it being the last day of school had wore off and I only felt dread. Though I didn't know it yet, soon my life would never be the same as it had been before. My hand rested at my side when I saw the school building. When I was almost there, my hand shifted into something else! One minute my hand was there, the next it was a claw! The claw was similar to those of those raptors from Jurassic Park. It was mostly red with black on the tips. It changed to a hand as quickly as it had changed to the claw. I stood there, stunned. What had just happened? How did it happen? I was shaken out of my thoughts by the school bell ringing. Whatever had just happened would have to wait, I had school to go to.
As I walked into the school, I instantly heard a thousand rumors take flight about why I was not inside before the bell rang. I wasn't exactly the popular girl at school. Everyone disliked me because I was different. No one else had streaks in their hair naturally. No one else had hazel eyes. No one else was the child of the state governor. (It didn't matter I was adopted). I was the outcast. Even the nerds didn't accept me into their group. I ignored the flying rumors and went straight to my classes. First was science, taught by Ms. Halo. The entire class period was taken up by Ms. Halo trying to say she would miss us, though no one was fooled. It was well known that Ms. Halo had hated all of her students this year.
Next was horrid Math, taught by Mr. Johns who loved doing algebra in his spare time. As expected, we spent the time doing algebra. I barely got through it. Math is not my best subject, if you can tell. After Math, however, a whole new torture began: English.
Mr. Kramer was the most hated teacher of all time. I sped in the busy hallways, not wanting to be be late. Horrible things happened to you when you were late. Suddenly, I tripped. How could have that happened? There was nothing for me to trip on. I thought I saw the manicured poses of the Nix twins flash past. I got to my feet just as the bell rang. Great, now I was late to English! When I did get through the door, Mr. Kramer was waiting. “You're late, Ms. Sharpe! Think you're related to a snail?” I said promptly, “Sorry, sir.” I sat down in my spot in front of the Nix twins. They giggled like they always did, but this time the giggles seemed more mean than usual. Were they the ones responsible for my fall? The Nix twins were the bane of my life at school. The elder was Calligenia, the younger one was Callidora. Both were blonde and had bright blue eyes. When it was time to check yesterday's homework, I realized that I had forgotten my homework at home in my hurry to leave. Soon enough, Mr. Kramer zoned in on me like a seagull onto a bag of chips. “What's wrong, Sharpe? Think you're too important to get off your butt?” The Nixes laughed out loud before I glared them into silence. “Well, Sharpe, I have news: you are nothing but a brat orphan who I have to shove facts that you'll never use in your life into your brain.” I steamed. Never before had he gone so far. “Why, I bet your real parents were lazy alcoholics who died being stupid.” I became so angry that my hand started shaking. “It's a real shame, you didn't die. You're a waste of air. Students, raise your hand if you hate Ms. Sharpe.” To my shock, everyone raised their hand. All shot me looks of hatred and jealousy. At that point, I realized that reason my classmates hated me was because I was the governor's kid. I was rich and I would probably be rich for the rest of my days. I began to shiver and one kid hollered, “Hey, look! The Sharpe kid's scared!” Fear was the opposite of what I was feeling, I was feeling rage. A deep fiery rage that grew with each passing second. How dare they threaten me! I had stood up for them every time Mr. Kramer targeted them. This was how they repay me! Several things happened at once. I felt a change come over me. I was bigger now and felt fire tickling my throat. Several kids screamed and Mr. Kramer shouted, “Stop that right now!” I roared and that was the last thing I could remember. When I woke up, the first thing I noticed that some desks around me were smoking and charred. I tried to stand up and found that my chair and desk had fallen apart around me. Kids were edging away from me looking horrified. Callidora was whimpering while her sister was unconscious with burn marks on her face under the teacher's desk. Mr. Kramer looked like a huge, bruised plum. He also looked scared. Funny, I had never seen him scared before. For few moments, his mouth worked like a gasping fish. He finally said, “You're dangerous!” Mr. Kramer picked up the phone. I knew he was calling the cops. I fled the classroom, curious students peeking out while their teachers hurried to see what the disturbance was. I knew it wouldn't take long before I became subject of a manhunt.
I ran outside onto the field. I sat down and rubbed my eyes. What had I done?! There was a raven perched on the fence. When I rested my eye on it, it flew to the ground. When it had landed, a snake hiding in the grass pounced. The raven flew up just in time to avoid it and flew away, scolding it the entire time. That flash of inspiration gave me an idea. I could stay here and be taken to prison or I could flee. I ran up to the fence and climbed over it. I leaped off the other side, earning a few dust spots on my uniform. I stood there on the brink of indecision. Should I go home to gather supplies or just leave? A few seconds later, I was running down the street towards my house. I went inside cautiously, not wanting to be the victim of the cops. I gathered some matches, a blanket and an energy bar in a backpack before Nan-bot walked in. “What are you doing, Llewellyn?” “Leaving.” I said shortly. “Don't leave,” Nan-bot said. “Everything will be all right.” A shadow came over me. I turned around and Nan-bot had completely changed. Her coloring wasn't blue anymore, it was bright purple. She was huge! At once, I knew what had happened. Nan-bot had changed into 'the-stop-crazy-kid' mode. I dodged the dart she fired and jumped out the still open window. All around me I heard police sirens. Now was the time to make myself scarce. A flash of white registered in my mind. The police! I ducked behind the bushes as a pair of police bots came toward the house. “She doesn't seem to be here at the moment.” one remarked. “Yeah, but she's giving us a lot of trouble.” The other replied. “She managed to avoid the Nan-bot at full speed.” Full speed? The dart had seemed slow, not hyper fast. “ We'll catch her soon enough, though.” As they moved away, I shivered, though not from the chilly air. I had to get away fast! I leaped to my feet and took off. “Hey! Stop, criminal!” I got away, fast. I hid behind a building, gasping. Sooner or later I was going to tire and then they would catch me. How could I disguise myself from those dumb bots? The answer came to me in a flash. Use hair dye! My hair was what was giving me away, so I had to hide it. I then realized that I was behind one of those dump stores. Dump stores are stores which they closed during the Purge of Difference. It was scheduled to be destroyed any day now. Luckily, it had been a hair care store and the supplies were still inside. I ducked inside and ran to the nearest aisle. This aisle was empty. I ran to others and either got the same result or was full of unneeded supplies. Finally I came to the aisle of hair dye. I grabbed the first I set eyes on. It was brown hair dye. I quickly shook it and sprayed it on. I ran into the women's bathroom and checked in the mirror. Now I looked like a regular brunette that you would see walking to school. Walking through a junkyard, that is. I calmly walked out of the store, hoping not to draw any attention. While no one seemed to notice me, I made my way to the bad side of town.
