Mrs. L surely shows her ability to be venomous and calculating. She seems to have all the angles covered as she advises and wins Noel's confidence and her 5 thousand pound legacy. Again Collins surprised me with Noel's death. I did expect it, but not quite so soon. So, we will see where things go from here and what Noel has written right before his demise.
I was up last night..couldn't sleep....although I really should have read something boring which this book certainly isn't.
Ha ha. Yeah, for sure. I can't be far behind you. I'm doing housework, then I'm going to go lock myself away and do some reading. :)
What a miser Noel is, I could not help but be amused at his being reluctant to give up his money even after his death. It was quite funny watching Mrs. Lecount having to whiddle away more money from him until she had her intended and formerly promised sum.
Lecount is such a vile creature. I have had very little sleep and just want to keep reading, but I have to get some work done!!!

I know, this book is addicting!

I am told there is an office in London in which copies of all wills must be kept. Any curious stranger who chooses to pay a shilling for the privilege may enter that office, an may read any will in the place at his or her discretion.
Very interesting...
