WARNING!!! KIND OF SPOILERY, BUT NOT REALLY FOR THE BOOK TIGER LILY WHICH COMES OUT IN JULY.I'm reading Tiger Lily right now (which you all need to read so I have someone new to talk about it with because I am OBSESSED) but there is a minor character who is I guess transgendered. But there's this subplot of Englanders coming to Neverland and exposing the native people (Tiger Lily's tribe) to God and religion. And I just finished this scene where they get Tiger's foster/adoptive father who is transgendered to stop wearing women's dresses and cut his hair. As a result he basically goes catatonic because of it.....so powerful and I'm really glad that the author chose to leave this plot point in. I find that too many YA books these days tend to focus on their main plot, usually some dopey romance, and ignore throwing in any sort of social commentary.

Wow, I wonder if that's where the author, Jodi Lynn Anderson, got her inspiration because it sounds really similar! Will have to drop off a copy for you and Geekquality today.
