Hello and welcome, Raelke. I'm just a lowly American but Aussie is quickly becoming part of my DNA thanks to Robust.P.S. Just noticed that Paul Auster is one of your favorites. Mine, too.

I invited you months ago after our discussion of a proper dunny.
Now that you've arrived, welcome. Not all of Goodreads is as lively a ROBUST.

You discussed dunnies? You see, this is why I belong to ROBUST - for the erudite conversationalists who are members.
Welcome, Raelke. What a great book. The Aussies do seem to be taking over the creative world. Reminds me (I'm an Ozz wannabee), I wrote a series of children's books a few years ago which sits on a shelf awaiting an illustrator with whom I can partner. I recently reconnected with one I talked to a couple of years ago, but for some reason no one has ever seemed 'just right'. It's about a critter who travels the world.
All the best in your endeavours!

For those of you who didn't see it, I did an interview with Raelke and her illustrator, Adil, on my blog back in April.http://kates-scribbles.blogspot.com.a...
Patricia, my name is pronounced as a combination of the names "Rae" and "Elka". So, Rae-el-kah, I guess would be the phonetic spelling! I got hooked on Auster after reading 'The New York Trilogy'. Absolutely brilliant.
Thanks, Sharon! I know what you mean, I was very lucky with my illustrator. She's amazing. Good luck in finding someone to illustrate your work. Maybe you could try to illustrate it yourself? You might find you have some hidden artistic talent!
The trilogy is what hooked me, too. I've recommended him to others but for the most part they don't "get" what's so magical about him. I think either you do or you don't, and there's no middle road.
Yes, I completely agree. I had to read the trilogy at uni, and I think I was the only person in my tutorial group who loved that book. Everyone else hated it, they wanted resolution.
Great interview, Katie!Oddly, I'd never heard of Auster. Just put him on my Wish List (my TBR pile is sooo high I made the Wish List as a sort of adjunct to be looked at when choosing my next book).
Kench! Raelke. We recently had a discussion on ROBUST about artistic ability. I probably could attempt to illustrate but it would be a struggle. Plus, I'm looking forward to partnering with someone. Because I'm good with numbers as well as having a creative mind, I've tended to do it all in my businesses and been largely successful, but I think it's time to see what can be accomplished as part of a team.

I'll read pretty much anything, although fantasy takes a bit of convincing. However, I have been pleasantly surprised in the past!
I can't believe I haven't joined Goodreads until now. I think I'm hooked already.
