Lorah (lorahd) anyoe read these? Im about half way through Crossed and im not sure I can finish.....

message 2: by Shelly (new)

Shelly Shaffer (shellyshaffer) I read both of them. They weren't too bad. I know that my students (8th grade) LOVED it last year. I waited until the second one came out and just read them in order. Now I am waiting for the third one to come out this year.

It's definitely not as edgy as Divergent or Hunger Games, but it still gets at some of those dystopian themes.

Daisy | 180 comments I read Matched. But I haven't gotten around to read Crossed. I just wasn't a big fan of the relationships in it. So that kind of ruined the whole story for me.

I LOVED IT!!!! So amazing!!

Christy | 1 comments Thought Matched was OK, moved a little slow for me but found it entertaining. I enjoyed Crossed much more! Hate waiting for the next book to come out in a series though....

Ash Obenstine (aobenstine) | 11 comments I actually really hated Matched. I expected much more from it. I have to give credit to the covers, though. They're gorgeous. :)

message 7: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 180 comments They really are aren't they. I love the symbolism of them. So amazing. Pity the book wasn't as amazing as it's cover.

message 8: by Ash (new)

Ash Obenstine (aobenstine) | 11 comments The symbolism of the covers are pretty awesome. The book would have been better if it revolved less around the romance but more towards the society issues. For some reason, the romance seemed really fake for me.

message 9: by Madzy (new)

Madzy | 2 comments matched was good but when it finally came to crossed i wasnt much of a fan anymore because half of the book consisted of what i call "fluff"

Definitely agree. I wouldn't have minded the whole relationships thing too much, but I just didn't really feel it. It didn't feel real. I mean, the only reason she fell for what's his name, (the one that's not Xander, I think? I am so sorry if I am getting these names totally wrong) is like because they wanted her to right? She just liked proved their whole theory. The relationships kind of ruined the whole book for me.

Exactly! The whole thing was just so set up. There was no natural chemistry between the characters. The only time I really felt like maybe Ky and the girl (I don't remember her name D:) had any sort of true relationship was when he taught her writing. And that just sort of revolved around their friendship, more than anything. The plot had a lot of potential; I think that the author will do better with her next series.

message 12: by Mara (new)

Mara (maraanne) I would have preferred if Ky and Cassia had grown to just be really, really good friends, but the romance actually didn't irritate me as much as I was expecting. I am hoping that "Crossed" and "Reached" focus more on the political happenings and maybe a little less on the romance. I can understand why maybe the Author devoted more time in "Matched" to Ky and Cassia's relationship; she wanted to establish their feelings.

message 13: by Lorah (new)

Lorah (lorahd) Just finished it. It was slow for me to get into this one and then I liked it, then boring again, and then was into it then bored again....lol. I will more then likely read the next one, I do want to know what happens.

Even that part kinda creeped me out. He's all mysterious and such and he's all like 'let me teach you how to write because I'm Weird like that.' I mean, what's up with that?????? It's just weird....

message 15: by Kasey (new)

Kasey I really liked Matched. I waited forever looking forward to Crossed, but NOTHING HAPPENED. it was rather boring.

Misslunarmagick | 8 comments matched was a good start To the series but crossed really up the bar on how much I enjoyed the series so far

message 19: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte (charlottep) I've definitely read better dystopian books, but i still liked it.

message 20: by Jayde (new)

Jayde (pinkpxls) I'm halfway done with matched and really struggling now. Cassia and Ky's relationship just seems so orchestrated!
