(((Wow. I get a LOT from names. (Does that mean I'm judgmental? :( Hope not.) To me, this sounds like a nice place--at first sight--but with something a little...off about it.)))
((You're not judgmental, don't worry, LOL. ;) And you're right about this place having something off about it. The Certain Pasture was so named because it has a lot of bones strewn around in it. And no one knows why yet. By the way, the Certain Pasture is a real place. At my house, we have pastures all around, and it just so happens that there really is a pasture that has bones in it--cow bones. There are cows that like to come around our place, and when a cow dies, the owner puts it in the Certain Pasture by any other dead cows. Oh, and I was the one who named that pasture "The Certain Pasture."))
Audra wandered around the Certain Pasture, wondering how she'd ended up here. Here, when she was supposed to be at the pool. How stupid of her, though, to think it could be in the middle of this eerie pasture. She'd changed her mind when she felt a bone snap beneath her foot...but by then, all she could see for miles was this horrible place, and there was no turning back. She was hopelessly lost.
In a place where bones crunched underfoot.
In one corner of the pasture, Kane was lurking in the shadows.
Then Kane suddenly came out into the light, his red eyes staring at her through his mask.
Startled, she jumped back, tripped, and fell to the ground."Who are you?" she whispered breathlessly.
An animalistic growl came out. "Kane."
"Do you...want something from me, sir?" She thought it best to play it polite, to stay on hs good side. If he had one. What kind of person lurked in places like this, jumped out at lost young girls, and growled? "If you want nothing from me, sir, I will leave," she said, trying to sound unafraid.
Kane cocked his head. "I don't need anything," he said. "Just checking you out."
"Um, yes, thank you, sir...Kane. I just think I shall...leave now. Thank you, good-bye!" she said quickly, all but hyperventilating, and tried to get up. "Ouch!" she cried as she accidentally grabbed the sharp, splintered edge of a bone.
Her cry got Kane's attention, but he didn't do much. However, he did take a few steps toward her.
Kane reached down, grabbed the bone, and threw it off to the side.
"What business do you have here?" Audra asked suddenly. After she said it, she slapped her hand to her mouth; her plan had been to walk away quickly and silently.
"Business that has something to do with bones," Kane said eerily.
"But that wouldn't do any good," Kane said, coming closer.
"Of course it will! They have guns and handcuffs, and...and..." She finished with a sob, scared out of her mind.
Kane walked right up to her, chuckling softly.
The corners of Kane's mouth curved into an evil grin.
She pulled her cell phone out and waved in front of her. She hoped he wouldn't try anything funny when she could call for help at any moment. She hoped.
Kane only smirked and crossed his arms.
Suddenly, Kane supernaturally appeared right in front of her.
She gasped, though she should have hardly been surprised. "What are you? What do you want? Stop bothering me!" she screamed at Kane.
"I am a fire monster," was all Kane said.
"Oh, that's nice, psychotic murderer!" she cried. "Get away, get away, leave me ALONE! You're insane!"
Kane threw his head back and laughed maniacally. He really was insane.
(((Scary!! I'm getting the shivers!)))Audra tried to run again. This time she tripped in her haste to get away, and her ankle twisted painfully.
Kane stopped laughing when he saw her twist her ankle. He took a few steps toward her, staring down at her.
"Should I?" Kane cocked his head.
Kane crossed his arms. "Fine."
"So, um, why are you still here?" she said, suddenly feeling the urge to laugh,. His crazy is rubbing off on me; why would I laugh at a time like this?
"Why am I still here?" Kane repeated. "Because this is one of my spots."
"OH!" Audra cried suddenly. "I know why I'm here amid a field of bones with an insane guy who claims he's a fire monster--this is a dream!" She pinched herself. Hard.
"I don't claim to be a fire monster," Kane said. "I am a fire monster!" He extended his hand, and then fire shooted up out of it to prove he really was made out of fire.
She stared at the blackened grass. Pickd a blade up. It crumbled to ash in her hand and left a black streak on her palm.So he really had shot fire out of his hand. Unless...
"I'm going insane," Audra whispered.
"This is no dream," Kane said. "This is real....I'm real."
"Well, logically, if I'm insane, I'd think you're real," she reasoned. "Of course, I don't think you're real, and...do crazy people know they're not right in the head?"(((To convince herself this isn't real, she has become obsessed with insanity. Oh, well.)))
((LOL. ;D))
"It depends," Kane cocked his head. "But I personally know that I'm insane, and I enjoy admitting it."
