Do you ever read out loud? Why/ Why not? If yes, when and how? Tell us all about it.

Tim Weakley | 396 comments Never have. I work with a guy that talks to himself CONSTANTLY. I imagine he must read the same way. Some days at work I amuse myself with imagining ways that he might meet his end.

Emily Haha, sorry about that Tim. That would drive me nuts.

I never read out loud in public, and generally not at all, except when I'm reading Shakespeare. I find it easier to understand the play format when I read it out loud.

Kate, I'm with you there! Play formats just seem to make so much more sense when I read them out loud. But since I'm out of school now, there hasn't been a whole lot of reading out loud for me besides the plays.

Although my dyslexic boyfriend keeps asking me to read my books to him, but he always asks when I'm in the middle of a book so I just get him the audiobooks. I'm not very awesome at reading aloud.

Donna | 1350 comments Yes, often, but not in public. Well, I've done it sitting out on my patio, which I'm sure makes the neighbors wonder... I was a speech forensics geek back in the day so it's sort of second nature. Especially if it's a good dramatic piece of back and forth, like a courtroom scene. And definitely when reading Shakespeare.

I was also a reading volunteer at the library and designated story hour reader in my preschool practicum.

Linda (lndoyle) | 313 comments No, I don't read aloud, but my darling 1st grade granddaughter does so for a half hour each afternoon, and it's a joy to behold.
