What are you kicking off your summer season with? I finished three very good books in a row: Field Gray, Kindred, and just today, the marvelously quirky The Call: A Novel. Now I've just started The Technologists.

I'm currently working my way through The Magicians, but I haven't gotten much reading in the last day or so. Up next will probably be Elegy for Eddie. I really like Jacqueline Winspear's books.
I just finished Heft. which had a less than satisfying conclusion, and I am now reading Come Home.I also am enjoying a short e-story Swim.

Carol, I've picked up Heft a couple of times from the library shelf, but always put it back because I just wasn't sure.
I have been wanting to read, "Heft," too. I have it on hold at the library but have had my hold frozen for a few months because I wasn't ready. I just finished the true crime book, "Bully," (not well written but informative and sad.) and the new self help book, "This is How," by Augusten Burroughs. (disappointing) A friend returned my copy of, "The Passage," and I was planning on Rereading it closer to October so it would be fresh in my head but it apparently wanted me to do it now! Lol. I agree that is one sequel I will definitely read right away! They had a teaser excerpt in Entertainment Weekly and it did not look disappointing.
Vicky and Leslie, I preordered my copy of The Twelve. My husband and I both adored The Passage, so buying The Twelve immediately is non-negotiable. :D I will have to read the excerpt. I really enjoyed the characters of Sarah and Theo and pretty much all the ones that are at the end of the book. I am reading Hannah's Dream and enjoying it so far (on page 40). I'm hoping I can squeeze in the latest Sookie Stackhouse book before I have to return it to the library.

She is a local author(Philadelphia), and she was on the local NPR station for an interview. I think she had a good premise for the book, but it just didn't deliver. One thing that bothered me was the use of ampersands instead of the word "and" in some of the chapters.
I have reached my saturation point with mysteries featuring serial killers and the flawed detectives who pursue them. I started The Leopard the other day and set it aside after the first few chapters.
