What shoes do you wear?

For me-
Hard: Fays Ultra Flexi Black Suede
Soft: Fays Celtic Choice Pumps
Practice Sneaker: Bloch Rainbow Wave

Carolyn Mary (carolynmary) | 17 comments Hard shoes: Well, our studio has a very, VERY, minimal Irish program, as only three girls take Irish, and our teacher just learned Irish this year. So, I use black tap shoes. Capezio Tele Tone Jr. tap shoes, to be exact! XD
Soft shoes: Well, we don't do much soft shoe, so I usually just use my jazz shoes.

Do you get to choose your shoes? My ID school's requirement is any shoe made by Fays.

Carolyn Mary (carolynmary) | 17 comments Kind of. We asked the owner/director/head teacher {XD} of my studio what shoes to get, and she just said to get the Capezio Tele Tones, but one girl has a different brand of tap shoes. They're still black, but different nonetheless.

That makes sense. For your other styles, is there a rule? For my non Irish studio, we have to have tan jazz and tap shoes and pick ballet and pointe shoes. The teacher reccomends we enter the studio's mass order of tap and jazz shoes to Revolution Dancewear at the beginning of the year or beofre the recital, but we have to buy our own ballet and pointe shoes.

Carolyn Mary (carolynmary) | 17 comments Well, for tap, jazz, and lyrical, we have to have the same shoes. In our packet that we get at the beginning of the year, it specifies. :] The brand doesn't really matter, but our studio all buys from one place/company, so we all usually have the same shoes, unless someone buys their shoes on their own.

At the level of dance I'm currently in, we wear tan slip-on jazz shoes {no ties}, tan tap shoes {with ties}, and foot thongs for lyrical. :]

For ballet, it really doesn't matter as long as they're ballet shoes. And for pointe, they suggest we get fitted for our pointe shoes at a very professional studio about an hour away. There they choose what brand, model, and size of shoes that would be best for you! :]
