Winter, after miraculasly haveing her ankle healed, ran into the city adn was agasp at what she saw, all the destruction!

Ryan had been terrified as the walls collapsed in the army bunker. He only just escaped and had no idea where the others were. He has found Bella sitting near the bunker crying but he had picked her up and was now carrying her by piggyback through the city heading for home. With Bella sound asleep on his back he had time to think about his next move, however, he was distracted when he saw a figure run out into the street, on instinct he pulled into a side ally, and watched the person from a distance.

Winter felt the humidity. She saw that nothing was left as it had been before. She fell to her knees in dispare. what was she gonna do? Where would she get food from? How would she protect herself from giant crabs?!

Ryan watched as the figure, a girl by the looks of her, fell to her kness and put her face in her hands, her shoulders shaking with cries he could only her faintly from this distance. What was he to do? He had to keep Bella safe and if leaving this girl to die meant that then he would do it but still...it woudn't hurt to see her. Being quite as so not to wake Bella and frighten the girl Ryan slowly walked up the cracked street passing burning cars and crumpleling buildings until he got there. 'You ok?' he asked her when he got close but not to close.

Winter looked up, her vision blurry 'cause of her tears. She coukldnt see exactly who it was. She shook her head "How can anyone be ok when something like this happened?!"

'Hey, hey.' Ryan said softly bending down next to the girl and using one hand to tilt her chin so he was facing her, 'Listen, it's alright. I know how you feel. You miss something that's gone. You never know what you have until it's gone. But there's a saying, 'Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That's why they call it the present.' We can't change what's happened. So we need to live for today and the future. Things will get better.' He said softly standing up and taking the girls hand so he could pull her up. 'Better?' he asked, still keeping his voice down so as not to wake Bella.

Winter smiled "thats a cute little saying, but its not that i miss my old life...sure i had rich parents, but they were arogant. they home schooled me so i had no friends, they gave me gifts and stuff but i just gavge all their gifts and money to the pooor.....but your rightm no use crying when theres lots of stuff we need to do to survive!" She said adn et him help ehr up "So, what now?"

Ryan smiled. This girl was really nice but she had a horrible life. No wonder she wanted to get away. 'Well, you can come with us. We're going back home. Oh, my name is Ryan by the way. And the little one on my back is Bella. She's asleep so you might need to introduce yourself twice if that's ok'. He said quietly pointing at Bella as they began walking down the street.

Winter smiled and nodded, wipping away her tears "Ok, Names Winter. So...tell me bit about yourself?" SHe said

'Nice to meet you winter! I know you probably get this a lot but the name suits you, you know, hair and eyes e.t.c' she said looking at her pure white hair and eyes with wonder. 'Full version or shortened version? Well, had mum, dad, dad died in car crash, mum forced to marry horrible man with two wives. Other wife ran orphanage in Mountians. I was forced to work for him and go there with errands. Escaped into forest. Met bunch of girls who had ran away from orphanage. Looked after them in forest until radioactivity came to forest. Ran with girls. All of them died except Bella and she has been turned blind so...' Ryan said quietly looking at the ground as the heart breaking images tore through his mind.
