------------

RC: Three Cheers for July
July 1 - July 31, 2012
Progress: 5 / 5-6

2. Independence
Read a book about a person striving for independence
-> There's a woman that works towards paying off a mortgage to gain independence. She wants to get away from a small town and make it big in the big city.
***** The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen, July 22

3. Picnics
Read a book where food plays an important part in the plot.
-> They make special food with flowers in them. Also the apple tree throws apples at random people ;).
***** Sarah Addison Allen - Garden Spells, July 23

4. National Ice Cream Month
Read a book that has a cover that's the color of your favorite ice cream flavor.
Actually I love several different flavours, but Melon, Lemon, and an incredibly sweet artificial one that tastes a bit like bubblegum are my most constant choices. This fit best. :)
**** Sarah Addison Allen - The Sugar Queen, July 24

6. Ruby
Read a book that has a red cover:
* Marlo Morgan - Traumfänger, July 8

8. Outdoor Concerts
Read a book that's plot involves music in some way:
Apart from a lot of music anyway, there are special plot points on "Besame Mucho", Loreena McKennitt, the Nine Inch Nails, and Mozart's Lacrimosa.
***** Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard, July 27 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

*~*~* COMPLETED JULY 28 *~*~*

Thanks for posting this, I didn't realize that was a could be book for this list. I'm actually about halfway through this book, but I ended up stopping for some reason.

I'm going to try "Having a Picnic." I already am trying to pick 3 books for this challenge.

Danielle (dmansell) I've got everyone updated to here in the post above. Please let me know if I've missed anything.

Welcome of the challenge and the group Amanda!

I've got my first book down as well.

Animal Magnetism by Jill Shalvis for the cover the same colour as your favourite ice cream.

It was okay but the heroine was one of those sickly sweet self sacrificing characters with no flaws (sorry my mistake her one flaw was that she was just too independent to let anyone help her) that every male in the book was in love with. *gag*

The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum

4/5 Stars
This book was a real page turner. It was like a train-wreck- horrifying, but I couldn't look away; I couldn't put it down because I had to find out what happened to Meg and her little sister Susan. Ketchum provides a sense of terror that not many authors can capture. There's no sugar coating in this book and I would not recommend it to the faint of heart.

Progress: 3/4 books

I've had this in my TBR for years and I've been almost afraid to read it because I've heard it was very disturbing. I'll have to bump it up my TBR pile.

Danielle (dmansell) Great Job Karissa :) I've updated your number. How did you find the second book? I haven't read it yet as I thought the first book was a little uneven in the pacing and seemed like a mish mash of all the current YA tropes thrown together.

message 50: by Karissa (new)

Karissa (diliapickle) | 63 comments Danielle - I am only 100 pages into the second book so not sure yet how I feel. And yes the first one was very similar to a certain boy wizard... some of the names were just so close it was a bit ridiculous. But I still thought it was a fun read albeit all the similarities.
