Lisa Orchard | 54 comments Just to let everyone know my book "The Super Spies and the Cat Lady Killer" is on sale now for only $.99! It's available for the kindle and the nook! You can find it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. It's an edgy ya mystery! If your reader likes Nancy Drew, she'll love this story!
Check out the reviews! :)

My blog is www.lisaorchard.com and I do author guest posts and write about issues that affect teens and tweens! :)

Liam O'Donnell (liamodonnell) | 5 comments Thanks for compiling all these great blogs Laurisa! As an MG author, I'm very happy to find places where folks are sharing their best bets in MG reading.

An elementary school teacher-librarian, I'm extremely happy to find a great source of new authors to add to my shelves (both GR shelves and library ones!)

Sharon Ledwith Hey, all, I'm participating in a book blog hop starting today until August 1st, and it's chock full of Mid-grade and YA blogs. Surf by if you get a chance:

My blog is mixed topics, but I do review a fair number of MG books. I keep the content clean, no matter the subject, so it's okay for kids to stop it, though it's not a kids' site per se.

Random short stories there, too, and always suitable for MG in terms of being non-offensive, though not always of interest to them, perhaps.

Edit: oops, forgot to include the blog :).

Lisa, I mostly just review whatever I happen to be reading. I do take some books as exchanges to read and review, but I'm rather backed up on those right now.

I've been on a kick of "discovering" old MG books that I somehow missed, and I review those mostly so that other people can discover them, as many are not exactly front and center at the library or book store. I think my last three reviews (including the one I'm about to post right now) are all for books published before 1960.

message 25: by Anna (new)

Anna Olswanger (olswanger) | 21 comments I want to thank Julie of this group for introducing the Motherdaughterbookreviews blog and kidlit hop in one of her posts. I think it's a fun idea: people post book covers with links to their blogs and visitors can go to the blogs and make comments (and friends).

But what's intriguing to me as someone who has so little free time, is the idea that I can find a blog based on a book cover. I think we all judge books by their covers, and in this case, we're judging blogs. It's just an intriguing idea for this world that is becoming increasingly faster and more visual (as opposed to literary).

I think anyone here who has a blog would enjoy participating in the blog hop:

I'd like to participate but I have to admit I'm clueless. . . can you explain to me how it works? Just post a kidlit review on the date indicated and link to the Kidlit site?

All this blogosphere stuff is pretty much making my brain explode.

All this blogosphe..."

No trouble at all Rebecca.
To get started, go to http://motherdaughterbookreviews.com/...
That will take you directly to the hop.
Renee the lovely host of the blog has posted some guidelines of how to best enjoy the hop and how to participate.

Scroll down to the bottom and you will start to see individual links like book covers. Click on any of them and you will find each person has linked a book review, or recommendation that they have posted on their own blog. Or if you don't have a blog, linked a post from someone else blog, ie, an author may post one of their reviews from someone elses blog.
At the bottom of each post there is a comments box, you can introduce yourself, comment on the post etc, get to know people.

If you want to link in yourself, scroll right to the bottom of the list that has the book covers and there is a "click to enter". It will then take you to a linky that will ask for the address of the blog post, then a title, and you can then upload a picture or book cover from your computer for the post. The linky will then post it into the hop.

If you come back to the blog a week later, you can still find the previous hops by clicking on the Kidlit blog hop picture and it will take you to a link of all the other hops that you can hop on through.

I hope that is as clear as mud Rebecca, lol best wishes, Julie

I think I get it.

I don't have any kids' books ready to review just now, but I think I'll join in next month. Or is it really kind of an any time thing?

message 30: by Julie (new)

Julie Grasso | 103 comments It's every 1st and 3rd Wednesday but the link stays open for the week so you can post in any time after Wednesday when the link opens. You can click the links and visit anytime though as each post is linked to someone's blog. Come hop along and meet some new friends. Cheers Julie

I've found the kid lit blog hop great to participate in each couple weeks (except this week as I'm away from constant access to internet). A few hops ago I linked GMGR .... So if you find the group thread in our list you can get to that week's hop to have a peek.

I've read some great links and will get back into it when next one happens.

message 32: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Orchard | 54 comments This is an awesome idea, however, I've noticed that most of the books are for elementary age kids. So, do I review one of those books and link my book to the bottom even though its MG/YA?

Thanks so much for the clarification!

Lisa

I include my MG book reviews in the kidlit blog hop.

My blog is not necessarily MG but it is clean, and if I'm reviewing a book that isn't for kids I say so right at the start. Most of those are obviously crime or thrillers. I don't usually review anything that might be objectionable for MG on the blog at all.

There's lots of news about my books there - and those are for MG and tweens. http://jemimapett.wordpress.com

V.K. Finnish | 77 comments My site isn't strictly a blog since I have tons of other stuff on there. But the blog part is here: http://www.vkfinnish.com/blog

I also host a LOT of kids' book reviews, so if you ever want to see what kids are saying about some of the middle-grade out there, you'll find that here: http://www.vkfinnish.com/fun-stuff/re...

Everything is MG-friendly!

Helen Laycock (helenlaycock) | 127 comments Also a writer of short stories for adults, I was recently offered the opportunity to do my first 'Guest Blog' and, since then, have been thinking to myself that I would like to offer to do the same in my capacity as a writer of children's fiction.

How on earth am I going to find bloggers that are interested in that, I wondered to my technologically-inept self... when I came across this thread! Marvellous.

message 42: by Maggie (new)

Maggie Lyons (goodreadscommaggiel) Wonderful resource, Laura. Thank you for all the hard work you have put into compiling this huge list. I also have a small list of MG book bloggers on my blog site at http://www.maggie-lyons.blogspot.com.

Rachel Hamilton (rachelhamilton) | 11 comments This is a great resource, Laurisa. Thank you. I'd be honoured if you'd consider adding our new blogging site to your list. Obviously, only if you think it merits it - www.book-walrus.com.
It covers news, reviews and author interviews (ones with Philip Ardagh and Dan Gutman on site, and upcoming ones with Anthony Horowitz and Derek Landy).
