Horror Aficionados discussion

Hi All,

I know this is quite subjective, but who are considered to be the "best-of-the best" in the horror genre, these days.(let's say over the last ten years or so.)?

Well, I think Joe Hill is really one to watch. He's Stephen King's son and he has two novels and a short story collection out. (Horns, Heart-Shaped Box, and 20th Century Ghosts). He's won several well-deserved Bram Stoker awards.

I must be missing something on Joe Hill. I started Heart Shaped Box a couple of times and put it down after 100 pages or so both times. Seemed pretty average to me...actually was bored with it!

I'm a fan of both David Moody and Seth Grahame-Smith, but have only read one novel from each of them.

I really enjoyed Horns by Joe Hill as well.

Ken, I definitely think Horns is better than Heart-Shaped Box. I didn't find it boring though.

I do think Joe Hill still has some room to grow and improve though, but I'm remaining positive that he'll get better the longer he's writing.

I thought HSB was quite a mainstream horror book. It was good but not impressive. Now Horns, that's impressive!

I must agree. Heart Shaped Box was good, but Horns was amazing!

I am by no means tooting my own horn here but I would say my book is the best of the best when it comes to current Horror Poetry..with that being said please refer to the book that is... , The Macabre Masterpiece: Poems of Horror and Gore

I will give Edgar Allen Poe the #1 spot in overall Horror Poetry, who is 2nd and 3rd though? This is getting me curious.
