Russell | 2 comments I can't remember much about the book. I remember it was "Jane-Austen-esque" in its writing style, so I am pretty sure it was written in the 18th or 19th centuries. I think it was written by a woman, but I'm not sure about that.

It was an epistolary novel (a series of letters). I think the main character was a girl/woman. The only thing I can remember about the plot was that the girl/woman was attending a London season, but I can't remember if it was her first or not. I remember the girl and her friends/family attending a play in London.

Jen3n | 19 comments It could be The History of Emily Montague by Frances Brook. It's not set in London, but it's the right style and period, and it IS about (partly) a young girl's first season "out." If not this one, then maybe Lady Susan by Jane Austen. Both Lady Susan and her daughter spend time in London, and it is the daughter's first time.

Russell | 2 comments I think Lobstergirl is right. I'm not sure and will probably have to read Evelina to be certain, but it feels right.

Russell, was "Evelina" your book? It definitely checks all the boxes you mentioned.
