Diane U (djuseless) Please recommend some books for historical Christian fiction here!

message 2: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Daws A Bride's Dilemma in Friendship, TN (post Civil War) by Diana Lesire Brandmeyer is a recent one I read and really enjoyed.

I also liked Songbird Under a German Moon by Tricia Goyer (WW2 Germany).

And Love in Disguise (1880s Arizona) by Carol Cox.

The Veil - Diane Noble (1840's I think)
Appomatox Saga - Gilbert Morris (Civil War)

Thorn In My Heart, Fair is the Rose, Whence Came a Prince, Grace in Thine Eyes - Liz Curtis Higgs (1700's Scotland)

Cindy (dragon57) A fun series that I read was Ladies Shooting Club by Susan Page Davis. I don't read a lot of historical fiction but enjoyed this one.

That's good to know. I have been eyeing that series on CBD since it is only $6.99 for all three books. I may grab it now! Thanks!

Susan Faloon | 35 comments I like SPD books. She is a really good writer. Thanks for the info on this one Cindy.
Diane, everytime I see the dog photo I just feel like smiling. What a face.

message 14: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) @Susan F ~ I'm glad my dog makes you smile! :)

message 15: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (SharonTroyCentanne) | 17 comments Love Inspired Historical and Heartsong Presents Historical are both great series. They are inexpensive too - published in mass-market paperback. There is a list of the best ones in Listopia here on goodreads.

Bosibori (tatuu) | 4 comments This is amazing! Making a list of all this. Keep them coming...and btw, is this a ladies only group? Lol!

message 17: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) @Tatuu ~ No this is not a ladies only group but I guess the ladies like to talk more than the men! LOL!

message 18: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (dragon57) These aren't new books but still available on Amazon and for some e-readers. It surprised me that I enjoyed a lot. Originally I picked them up because the author lives close, next county over. They are based in WW2

The author is Robert Vaughan and the two that I read are: Touch the Face of God and His Truth is Marching on. He also has another that I didn't read Whose Voice the Waters Heard.

They don't have to be read in sequence but a character or two does carry over in the other books.

They seem to read a lot too. No wonder. Great thread though. Gives me lots of ideas on books to read.

Short-Straw Bride by Karen Witemier
A Heart Most Worthy by Siri Mitchell
A Bride Opens Shop in El Dorado by Keli Gwyn

message 22: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Daws Short-Straw Bride sounds soooo good!! I just discovered it last week and it's on my list .. and constantly moving higher.

message 23: by Diana (new)

Diana (dianalesirebrandmeyer) | 15 comments Carrie, I think it's the best book I've read in a long time. The writing is stellar and so is the story.

message 24: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Daws You convinced me, Diana. It's now at the top of my fiction list. I may even drop the sci-fi I"m reading now for it. I like sci-fi okay, but it's not my favorite. This story is good ... but I keep wanting something different. Sigh...I think I'm more of a sci-fi movie watcher than book reader! LOL...

message 25: by Diana (new)

Diana (dianalesirebrandmeyer) | 15 comments Drop the sci-fi and pick up Karen's book. You'll be so happy you did. :)
