Olivia Newport (olivianewport) | 16 comments I recommend Dale Cramer's Amish fiction, the Daughters of Caleb Bender series. (And in October, I will be releasing my first Amish-themed story called Accidentally Amish. Hope some of you will be interested in that!)

Aerykah I've read a lot of Amish fiction by Beverly Lewis & Wanda E. Brunstetter... I'm not really crazy about Amish fiction, but they were pretty good.

Carlene Havel (chch) | 43 comments What makes a book Amish? Are all of the characters Amish, or does that cultural group play a significant role in the story or ??? Please excuse my ignorance. I keep seeing those attractive covers of girls in long dresses & bonnets.

message 10: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I would consider a book Amish when there is at least one character that is Amish. Most Amish books take place in an Amish community and can take place in either current times or historical. If you have not read any, I find that their culture is quite interesting.

Olivia Newport (olivianewport) | 16 comments "Amish" is an expanding category. Colleen Coble write a great suspense novel about an Amish woman lured away from her community by a man who turned out to be abusive. More writers are getting into historical settings with Amish characters. My series, which launches in October with Accidentally Amish, has a contemporary story where the main character is a young woman learning about Amish culture, with a historical thread intertwined that tells some Amish history. Both stories share a theme of how our values drive our choices.

Thane | 17 comments Speaking of Amish! Author P.L Gaus shares on our blog about the ins and outs of Amish suspense.

"Go ahead, punk. Stack some hay." (Not an actual P.L Gaus quote.)
