Meg walked past the underbrush and arrived at the campfire. She had found this here when she was searching the grounds but had kept it to herself for future use.She sat on one of the logs and patted the spot next to her for Bri.
((Its dark out))
Meg nodded, "Yes I have." she was still not quite here because of her nervousness. She tapped her knee lightly in anticipation.
Darwin arrived at the campfire, hoping to see Meg. He knew he was late but he took a seat next to her anyways. "Hey, I'm so sorry I'm late." he flashed her a quick smile and stared at the fire, blushing.
"Meg, where are you?" Rose whispers crashing through some undergrowth. She was supposed to be at the campfire but wasn't exactly sure where she was going. When she was on the path, she had been able to see the glow of the fire. Then, trying to take a shortcut, she had walked into a tree, gotten scratched repeatedly by various plants, and was hopelessly lost. Great, she sighed to herself.
Rose smiled at everyone when they reached the campfire. "Hi everyone," she said, slightly embarrassed.
"Hey!" Darwin waved at Rose, "Get lost or something?" he asked, looking her up and down. "I'm just kidding, everyone gets lost here at some point." Darwin added, smirking at her.
Meg blushed when Bri said that but quickly hid it when Darwin arrived."It's fine" she replied to his apology of being late. Meg's stomach was filled with butterflies as she spoke.
"I'm fine," Meg said to Darwin with a small smile, "It's not like I have to adjust to the island at all since I've been here so often. And my roomies in the Audrey cabin are cool. So altogether things are going great." That is until Shira starts bringing down the hammer..."How about you?"
"I'm great, nothing much to do here until classes start." Darwin chuckled as he stared at his hands, he was definitely blushing. He knew he had to tell Meg how he felt about her tonight, but he didn't know it was going to be so hard.
"Yeah," Meg agreed, "But then everyone will be super busy. I like it this way." she smiled at him. The flames reflected slightly in her eyes as the danced in amoung themselves.
"Yeah, I have to agree with that." Darwin smiled at her. Should I tell her now? he thought to himself. "Meg, I have something to tell you." he blurted out. Hopefully she felt the same way about him as he did about her.
"Well um, I like you...a lot." Darwin told Meg as he stared into her eyes. He noticed his cheeks heating up and his palms becoming sweaty. Slowly, he put both of Meg's hands in his. "And I was wondering if you felt the same way too.." he added quickly.
Meg was speechless. She wasn't sure what she should say because she did feel the same. She had felt that for him ever since they had gone swimming together with the angelfish and he had told her that she was the most beautiful girl he had ever met.So instead of saying anything she pulled one of her hands out of his, touched his cheek and lightly kissed him on the lips, closing her eyes as she did so.
Darwin, shocked, kissed her back and slid his hand softly behind her neck. After a minute, he pulled away laughing. "So I take that as a yes..?" he asked as he pulled her in for a light kiss on the cheek.
"Definitely," Meg said with a smile. She knew that it was strictly against the rules and that if she got caught it would probably be buh-bye Alpha Academy but it was worth it. Meg rested her head on Darwin's shoulder.
Sidney came to the campfire and upon seeing Meg and Darwin kissing smirked, "Well I see that worked out for you." he said to Darwin, then sat by Rose, "Hey."
Darwin smiled and entwined his fingers with Megs's. "We just have to keep this a secret form Shira. But if I get to be with you, it's totally worth the risk." he beamed at Meg and gently stroked her hair.
Meg nodded in agreement, but knew it would be very difficult to keep this relationship a secret from his mom. There was very few things that ever slid past Shira's attention and she was hoping this would be one of them.
"What time is it? I should probably get back soon before Shira notices that I've been gone. I told her I would be back by midnight." Darwin frowned, he didn't want to leave. He wanted time to freeze so he could stay with Meg forever, no rules, no curfew.
Meg looked at her aPod and groaned, "It's already 11:45. You'd have to leave now to get back on time... And you don't want her to get suspicious."((remember Shira would not be ok with this campfire. It's a secret))
"Hey," Rose said back to Sidney. She hated to admit it but she was jealous of Meg. She gets a guy, she thought to herself. Only four more are left. She desperately wanted a happily ever after with a sweet guy and Meg definitely got one.
Sidney smiled, "If I remember correctly, your name is Rose right?" He remembered her beautiful piano playing back at the music hall.
"Yeah. . . and yours is Sidney," she smiled back. "Who could forget that? All the girls are after you. . ." She restrained a sigh. How could Shira do this to them. Only five boys and 100 girls all competing for them. . . what chance did she have?
"Ha I wouldn't say all the girls," Sidney said. He remembered again the girl who had just broken up with him. But pushed that out of his mind, "So how are you doing here so far Rose?"
"I'm really looking forward to the classes. I've met some really awesome people like 'Meggy' and have been practicing piano a lot. It's just a little overwhelming here," she confided. "I also really miss my friends. . . and boyfriend," she added.
"Well, my ex," she said quietly. "He's still my friend though, so I miss him. I'm still trying to get over him. He broke up with me because I decided to come here instead of stay with him. He wasn't very nice but still. . . Sorry, I'm rambling," she said embarrassed.
"No that's ok," Sidney said with a smile. He was glad she wasn't currently dating someone. "Why wouldn't he be happy for you though. Coming here I mean. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for so few and a great honor. Why would he even think of holding you back from that?" he said looking into her eyes.
"He cared more about himself than me," she replied looking him in the eyes. "Since this didn't benefit him, why would he be happy? I'm glad I'm out of that relationship though. . . it will just take time to heal." She glanced down at her hands. "How about you? Hot girlfriend?" she asked looking back into his eyes.
Sidney took his eyes away from hers and looked at the fire, staying silent for a minute."Well...um...not anymore," he mumbled. His oh so great Hispanic girlfriend had seemed to be the perfect one for him. Caring, lovable, happy, and funny. But it turned out it was all a nasty horrible trick. It had been extremely embarrassing to find out she had been hired by some big magizine to get in with him personally, then bringing all his dirt to the press. He still was heart broken over that.
"Well I've got to get back now, I told her I was giving tours. And I know, I don't want to leave either." he groaned as well and stood up. After brushing off, he leaned down and gave Meg a quick kiss on the lips. "See ya' later, Meg." Darwin said as he walked away.
"Bye," Meg said as his kiss lingered on her lips. She really wished he could stay, but that wasn't possible...
"Do you want to talk about it?" Rose asked. "I know what you're going through. Or maybe I don't. But I know what it's like to be in a horrible relationship. I just want you to know I'm here to listen." She gave him a small pat on the hand.
