None so far , cause i read about the book first and only if it interests me do i go ahead and read. I must have read some crap novels on a journey , but then it was so bad that i dont even remember the name ..
I did not understand the ending of Sethu's Adayalangal. So I didn't like it :).Got bored of some parts of Thakazhi's 'Enippadikal'.
Couldn't go past 20 pages of 'Thattakam'. That is purely due to me not able to adjust to the unique style of Kovilan. Will try reading it again at a leisure time.
Dear Aravind, I agree 100% with you. I also could not read even 10 pages of Thattakam. And since I do not have a need to do so, to pretend a BUDHIJEEVI I just turned to ot her readable books. In my humble opinion a book should be simple and entertaining..might be because of that I dislike Anand and love S.K.Pottekkat
I don’t say I hate to read it, but I was thoroughly letdown by MT’s Varanasi. I would say, it was such an unexpected disaster from the master story teller of Malayalam, looks like a novice trying some gimmicks to establish his place. The whole structure is shaky with incoherency, poor characterization and too much of melodrama. The height of it is towards the end when the protagonist (a Don juan type) sees his classmate on the banks of Ganga in midnight but avoids meeting her …LOL..
I started reading a book and Could not understand what the author is talking about. The book is DharmaPuranam by OV Vijayan. Some of my friends said they enjoyed the book..I failed to understand even the theme :(
I think before readin O V Vijayan, should always keep in mind that its written by a person whose thoughts are running through different path....like a bypass road;-)...remember the thoughts of the boy in the film Tare Zameen Par....
@dharmapuranam; I wid suggest before readn dharmapuranam, shud understand the terms given in the begining......Its about d political system at d time of emergency..
Ath poornnamayum manasilayi ennu njan parayunnilla..ennalum vayichu varumbol kure okk manasilakum
Biddhijeevi...ennu alukal vilikkunnavar avar swanthmay nirmicha lokathanu jeevikkunnath..swatandramay chindikkunnavar.....Avrud rachanakal ishtapedam ishtapedathirikkam......manasilakatha tharathil avar ezhuthunnathalla avarkk angineye ezhuthan saadikkukayullu ennu thonnunnu
Dharmapuranam aaa reetiyil ezhuthan ulla karanam adhehathin entire political system thnod thonniya veruppu karanam ayirikkmSorry dnd hav facility to type in malayalam
I think certain buks should be read again nd again.....Bt I think der s another buk Adityanum Radhayum Mattu Chilarum by M Mukundan...which I cant understand ny thing...becuse its something like Pedro Paramo
I havent read ny other buks of OV vijayan thanks for d suggestionAnd I think reading hav nothing to do with age...
I think dis so called budhijeevi works are exploited by some writer just by imitating foreign writers.....It has nw become d new style of writing

ആധുനികത എന്ന പേരില് എഴുതുന്നവര്ക്കും വായിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും ഒന്നും മനസിലാവാത്ത കുറെ സാധനങ്ങള് ;)

athe....
Mukundan's Seetha...though there is nothing strange or unnatural about the theme, i could not appreciate it...felt something sickening.
Manu wrote: "I havent read that, but i ve read his stories delhi kadhakal.Dnd undrstnd sme stories"Honestly, I could not come to grips with Madhavikutty's works. The most apt word in malayalam is 'durgraahyatha' for my feeling about her works. One thing is for sure, with a very easily accessible vocabulary she created her literaty worlds.

Great truth is always told in the simplest language. There is an other side as well, like they meant it only for the 'buddijeevis'. Anand is not writing for the masses and it is bound to be hated or not understood by the masses by default. In another sense, they do not expect power by democracy. So masses has a right to reject them and they can say we expect it as well.
