I finished Daimon, now going to start Half-Blood

I think I'll be able to start it today - as soon as I find the review book I seem to have lost.... stupid file is missing from my Kindle :( I'm thinking I never downloaded it & now I can't find the email... DUMB DUMB DUMB ME!

Okay so I'm half-way through HB.
I am picking up on a whole lot more this time around.

So since I read Pure and I know what happens I'm seeing so many more links and hints.
Grandma Piperi says to caleb his future is short and bright - a hint he would get killed????

Okay I just got to the bit where Aiden says to Alex that Lucian is dead set against her returning to the covenant. Could this be to protect her? In the blurb of deity is says one has always been trying to protect her. Lucian maybe???

idk Lucian has always been a kind of questionable character. I feel like if he was trying to protect her he would want her to return to the covenant where she can gain her skills again. Instead of wanting her to be with her father where they could have manipulated her and she would have been helpless.

I don't. See what if he knew she was the second appolyon and was trying to protect her by taking her away from the covenant so she wouldn't have to face the 'gods' or anything.

Lucien's 'questionable character' could be a red herring, though, to throw us all off the scent. Nobody has liked Lucien from the off, because we're reading through Alex's POV and she doesn't like him. So the reader is automatically suspicious of him and every scenario that amounts to a bad ending includes Lucien as being somewhere behind it. But what if that's just what JLA wants us to think? What if we're all sniffing the wrong spot entirely? ;o)

That is exactly what I think.

I really think Lucian knows she's the Appolyon.

Seth: "he askes what I thought about you. He was eager to hear what I had to say."

If he didn't know she was the 2nd appolyon and protect her because of it why would that line be there?

Kay, I figured that, too. It's easier to miss the foreshadowing on first read through. That's why I like re-reading stuff I've loved because I always spot something I hadn't realised was there.

I really feel like Lucian doesn't like the world as it is. Alex just found out she's the Appolyon and he says this:

"We could change the rules - the laws surrounding half-bloods, the marriage decrees, the Council."

I'm actually really liking him more.

I'm glad it's not just me picking up on these undertones. Although, he could be saying what he thinks Alex wants to hear. ;o)

he COULD be but we don't know.

I'm on chapter 3 of Pure.

I'm actually now thinking could it be that her uncle Marcus is the one trying to protect her. He's always being really horrid to her but could this be the twist?

I've come to the conclusion Alex is the best heroine ever. I mean come on she broke someone's nose with an apple

I once knocked out an eyebrow ring with a baseball. Would I make a good heroine? ;o)

but again it's like ok even if he knew she was the apolloyon so what? everyone knows that the 2nd apolloyon's powers go to the first. and everything that seth wants she would want also so if I was in the position I would want to be buddy buddy with seth because he's the one who would be the most powerful.

Is anyone else wondering what the deal is with the elevator mentions. I spotted them first read through but now they're seeming even more prominent this read through. She mentions them in HB, and in Pure (though I'm not there yet), I'm pretty sure she mentions them when she goes for the council meeting as well as about the Deity Island covenant.

@iloveparanormals - really??? You'd want to be with Seth just because he's more powerful? That is so not a valid reason to be buddy buddy with someone.

Something I noticed this time is that when she meets Seth Alex describes him as something the god's designed but it's like the missed out his humanity. He was totally cold. Does this mean that it's been an act and he's just acting like he cares to get something out of Alex???

Julie, yea I did notice that. It's weird that it's mentioned repeatedly right?

I don't think it's all an act with Seth, Kay. I think Alex leaves him a little confused and surprised, because he probably didn't expect to feel some kind of attachment. And I think the connection probably has a lot to do with it, too.

Hmmm Maybe. I don't trust him.

Okay so the more I read the more I am completely convinced that that servent who wasn't doped up is Alex's death. yea the half-blood. He had eyes just like her mother described.
I am also convinced that Alex is more than a HB and Apollyon. Everyone just seems to afraid of her. So I'm thinking if he is her father that would mean she isn't a full HB as she wouldn't be made from a pure and a human but a pure and a half something that is forbidden and has never happened before.

This makes me think I am right --> The oracle says this: "Just like all you who mix the breeds." Could that mean more than we thought. Not mean just mixing pure and human but mixing pure and half.

Another thought...
The oracle also says... "You must make a choice between what is fated and what is unknown. Take the risk or suffer the consequences."
This is right after she's talking about love so could it be saying to take the risk of being with Aiden rather than suffer the consequences of going by what is 'fated' with Seth which inforces my belief of can we trust him????

I didn't say we can trust him, Kay. And I'm not saying 'some' of his behaviour isn't an act. I just don't think he's 100% in control of how he acts toward Alex. :o)

*waves white flag* hey I'm just throwing things out there! One thing I first ally agree with you about is about Seth. I don't trust him either. I think he is using Alex.

I just had this idea:

just something i thought since there isn't a lot of apollyons usually only one and nobody knows how the apollyons come about

What's bugging me (going back again) about the idea of the 'aware servant' being Alex's dad is that Laadan would have to have seen him there, right? She knew Alex's dad, don't forget, yet there is no mention of her even acknowledging his presence or whatnot, so I'm not 100% sold on that idea yet.
